Later in the evening after dinner the black paladin moved to go do what he normally does, going off to think roaming the halls till he eventually gives up and head back to his room and keeping himself there till the early hours of the morning when he wakes up from a nightmare in need of a caffeine fix before doing whatever he can do just spend time before everyone wakes up. That was stopped by Matt calling out to him. He turned on his heel with a smile, "What Matt?"

Matt looked at him, "Can we just talk? I don't know what about I just want the company."

Shiro chuckled and walked over offering a hand before leading him off to who knows where. Matt unsure of the maze of hall they walked through before he realized where they were going. The control room. The lights turned on as they walked in.
"Lights off," Shiro commanded and the lights turned off before he sat down on the step that led up to the main panels looking back at matt as he patted the spot next to him offering him a seat.

Matt took it smiling sheepishly before looking out into the void of space. His eyes filling with wonder. Shiro smiled and pointed out constellations that were new to the rebel but the paladin knew well knowing the far reaches of the universe better than the Italian next to him. Shiro went through every detail of the stories they had as the ship moved slowly. Matt only looked out eyes thirsty for knowledge. Once they ran out Matt started pointing out ones that looked like animals and such. Shiro chuckled missing the past time of cloud gazing and followed in the rebel's game.

The two sat for hours on end gazing at the stars around them Shiro knowing Matt just wanted company. The room fell silent before Shiro was taken aback by a question.
"What do you miss most from earth."
Shiro looked at him blinking a few times processing before sighing and looking out back to the stars. "Chocolate and beer... mostly chocolate."
Matt hummed in acknowledgement and looked down, "good one."
"How about you?" Shiro looked over.
Matt closed his eyes, "God that's hard." Shiro chuckled in response waiting. Matt finally answered, "Popcorn. Not any popcorn the movie theater kind."
Shiro nodded, "I miss that too." Matt placed his hand on Shiro's. The paladin jumped but smiled finding the gesture soothing. They sat there just like that for thirty minutes before the black paladin's arm snaked around Matt's waist and pulled him closer. Matt only leaned on him and smiled finding comfort in the action. They sat there for another 2 hours.

"It's late," Shiro mumbled and Matt yawned.
"And?"
Shiro sighed softly pulling himself from Matt rolling his head to the side first left then right cracking his neck before standing up his knees cracking at the action causing the Japanese man to groan softly at the relief before picking up Matt and setting him down. "Meaning you should go to bed."
Matt whined softly but and huffed knowing Shiro wouldn't waver in his command.
"You do the same." Matt scolded knowing Shiro was a night owl just like him. Shiro only smiled and nodded, "Scouts Honor," Matt's heart swelled slightly at how deep Shiro's voice was when he was tired. He wanted to wake up to that voice and fall asleep to it, but too much of a coward to ask if he could spend the night with Shiro they parted ways. Shiro to his nights riddles with nightmares and Matt to his impure thoughts of Shiro. Hopefully soon Shiro wouldn't wake up to those cold sweats at night and sleep normally for once. But Shiro shrugged off his clothes knowing that the possibility is a miracle that Shiro didn't know was right next to him 20 minutes ago.
