"What happened to you?"

Shiro winced getting stitches above his right brow, "You happened that's what." Shiro snarled. He had gotten stitches on his knuckle and ankle along with his forehead. He had bruises almost everywhere and most of them down to the bone. Shiro coughed after inhaling deeply. "Hold still." Matt scolded. Shiro grumbled but did so. After Shiro was fixed he sat up and looked at Matt, "what did they do to you?"

"I told you I was broken."

"You never specified how, Matthew." Shiro grabbed his arm as he was putting supplies away,

"Matthew Holt how far did they go?" Matt looked down.

"Testing?" No response. "Beating? Shocking? Cutting?"

"Forcing me to Kill innocent lives and eating them for food." Shiro's eyes widened before something in his switched. He wanted to kill Zarkon. Make him suffer and take his sweet time with it. Right down to shoving his hand into his chest and pulling out his heart. Those idea faded and he sighed softly. "Matt.... why didn't you tell me?"

"I was afraid!"

"Of what? Me leaving?"

Matt turned and looked him in the eyes, "Kinda yah.... I mean wouldn't you run? Wouldn't you like to just get up and leave the homicidal psycho who is standing in front of you patching you up after beating the shit out of you? If not I think you are in the wrong kind of business."

"Matthew..." Shiro looked at him, "I would never."

"Oh really? My sister would think it would be-"

"I could have killed you back there."

"Oh really. When?"

"When we were first fighting. Look. Why do you think I train with the robot and no one else. There is a reason to that."

"What about Keith?" Matt looked at him. Shiro paused. Matt asked again. Shiro looked down. "That was the first time I realized how broken I was. I did a lot of damage. He was able to block it. I... I wasn't able to fix it that much. I was better.... then I learned about the champion so I worked hard and would rather die than kill any one of the paladins. That was until I was able to control it. It will take a while." Shiro kept his voice even. "Matt I won't leave you. It will be hard but we need to know how to trigger and stop it. Mainly stop. That can wait till I am healed."

"We can put you in a pod." Matt offered. Shiro shook his head, "No. We need those for more important things. I will be sore for a few days. I'll be fine. Trust me." Matt nodded and looked to the side feeling bad. Shiro got up and hugged him resting his chin on his head, "Hey, we will fix it. Together. I promise. We can do this. I trust you, and I love you." Matt moved closer and rested his face into the crook of his neck and inhaled deeply. Calming himself down. They stayed there for a long while before Matthew spoke, " Kashi?" Shiro hummed and pulled him closer, "Yah?"

"Thank you for not leaving."

"The day I do that is the day I am taken away by force. I love you too much to leave." Shiro could feel the smile on his neck. They stood there for a long time. "Idea. We can continue this in my room and we can just cuddle." Matt nodded. Shiro moved back to look in his eyes, the rebel looked like he wanted to cry. Shiro picked him up and walked to his room.

Once entering the room Shiro laid down with Matt and held him close. He could feel the tear fall down his face as he cried silently. Shiro didn't say anything because he wanted to give the broken man the time to recover and do what he needed to. He was going to be the glue that held their relationship together. He moved his hand up and down his back. Waiting silently for him to make the first move. What Matt experienced is scary and he knew how much being with the one you love can make this go faster. At least Matt had him now. He would never let him experience this alone. It wasn't fair. Nothing about this was fair. Shiro then started to hum a familiar tune. He closed his eyes and started to sing. "Yurayura Yurameku name no ma ni, Kirakira kagayaku koe wa tada yure kanata e to. Yume miru Kurage wa uta utau yo, yashashii umibe de nenuru." The song he learned from his mother as a kid and something he realized what it came from through watching anime with Matthew, and somehow playing the game with Matt late at night at the garrison when they should be sleeping. "Donna toki demo kono uta hibiki watareba donna iro demo sunda sore ni tarete yuku yo. yurayura yurameku name no ma ni kirakira kagayaku koe wa tada yure Kanata e to. Yume miru kurage wa uta kanade kirakira kagayaku koe wa tada ure anata e to." Shiro could feel that Matt had slowly started to drift to sleep. Shiro couldn't be happier.
