A/N - Mutsuki is actually a female who prefers to use male pronouns; I am fully aware of that but for the sake of this story - Mutsuki is a female. Okay? Okay.

"So, let me make sure I've got this straight," you began, attempting to process the whirlwind of information you'd just been inundated with. "All of you are investigators for the CCG, and this apartment is where you all live together?" You sought clarification, taking in the surroundings you remembered vividly from your last visit - when Haise had cooked that incredible meal and revealed the truth about Anteiku High and its staff.

While you knew Haise had a history with the CCG, you hadn't realised he still worked actively for them, maintaining a double life as a teacher. The revelation left you feeling a mix of surprise and curiosity, though you understood now why you hadn't encountered his colleagues during your previous visits - they must have been on missions or otherwise occupied. It wasn't your place to judge why he hadn't shared this part of his life with you earlier; today's events had certainly clarified their priorities.

Seated on a plush sofa in what you assumed was Haise's living room, you found yourself next to Saiko Yonebayashi, a short, chubby woman with a penchant for food and an endearing habit of referring to herself in the third person. You couldn't help but notice her generous curves, momentarily feeling a pang of insecurity before refocusing.

To your left was Ginshi Shirazu, a boisterous yet genuinely kind-hearted man whose chatter and compliments provided a stark contrast to the brooding figure of Kuki Urie. Urie stood apart from the group, his stoic demeanour and perpetual scowl making it clear he harboured some resentment, particularly directed at Haise.

You couldn't fathom why anyone would dislike Haise - to you, he embodied perfection in both appearance and character. The animosity Urie displayed puzzled you, but you opted not to dwell on it; there were more pressing matters at hand. Thanks to Saiko and Shirazu's detailed explanations, you now grasped the intricacies of their work and their identities as investigators, even if they considered you an insignificant human.

"You know, Haise living this double life is pretty se-" you caught yourself before uttering "sexy," amending your statement. "Cool. It's really cool," you concluded with a smile, glancing over at Urie, who responded with an eye roll and a scoff.

"No, it's not cool," Urie interjected sharply, his disdain palpable. "He prioritises some mundane school, a pathetic woman, and a job offered by an old man over what truly matters. It's careless and idiotic."

Your brow furrowed at Urie's harsh words. How could he dismiss Haise's efforts and dedication so callously? Haise wasn't just a teacher; he was a mentor, a caretaker, and, in your eyes, an admirable figure. Before you could stop yourself, a surge of indignation overtook you.

"Pathetic?" You repeated, your voice tinged with venom as you rose from the sofa, heels clicking on the floor with each determined step towards Urie. He remained unmoved by your approach, a fact that only fuelled your anger. "Who do you think you are, calling me pathetic when all you do is brood and complain?" The words spilled out, surprising even yourself with their forcefulness. Perhaps it was the overwhelming events of the day that prompted your outburst, or maybe it was simply a long-buried frustration finding an unexpected release.

"Don't even start," Urie replied flatly, his tone devoid of emotion. It was a voice that never seemed to waver, whether he was calm, irritated, or outright insulting.

"Maman found a feisty one," Saiko mumbled between bites of food, prompting a sigh from you. Engaging with someone so self-absorbed seemed futile, especially when fatigue and hunger weighed heavily on your mind. With a dismissive shake of your head, you retreated to your former seat on the sofa, sinking back into its comforting embrace.
