Braden walked out the door to be greeted by Denis. He smiled at him, and Alex peeked from behind Denis and gave an awkward smile. Denis, Braden and Alex walked out into the open air, the sun going down. They made the silent expedition to the boardwalk. Braden could see the lights of the rides from there, especially the Ferris wheel. He let out a gasp, amazed at the sight. He had known that the boardwalk was just a few blocks from his house, but he had never bothered to look at it during the sunset or at dark in general. Now he knew what to look at when he looked out of the window in his room at night.
Elijah skipped out of the door with Sub, who scoffed playfully at his friend's actions. "Why are you skipping?" he asked. Elijah shrugged. "I don't really know, I just have a really good feeling about this trip." he responded excitedly, slowing his skip to a bouncy walk. He looked over at the beautiful lights coming from the boardwalk he looked out of his bedroom window at every night. He had always found them so pretty, especially at sunset or night. Elijah smiled to himself before returning to his skip, Sub following.
Braden walked onto the boardwalk with Denis and Alex, telling them that he'd catch up later. He just wanted to look at all the scenery. Braden sat down on a bench near the entrance, gazing at all of the lights against the now dark sky and smiled to himself. "I need to come here more often." he murmured underneath his breath. Another boy, around his age, walked up to him, his friend walking towards the rides. "Could I sit next to you, if you don't mind?" he asked politely. Braden turned to him and nodded, surprised that someone would actually want to sit next to him that wasn't a friend. "Uh, yeah, I don't really see why not." he added. The boy nodded and smiled at him.
"I'm Elijah, my friend that left was Sub." Elijah said, holding out his hand and smiling. The person next to him blushed lightly, enough for Elijah to notice, and shook his hand. "I'm, uh, I'm Braden." he replied. Elijah pulled his hand back, only to notice that there was a red string on his finger now. Braden looked at Elijah's hand then his, his eyes wide. "Did you...did you do that? That wasn't, that wasn't there before, I swear." he said, looking at Elijah, who nodded. "No, I didn't, but mine was never there before either." he claimed, looking at the person sitting in front of him who he had just met. What the heck?
(Elijah protection squad, I made him too adorable, oops. :P)
