Braden sat staring at Elijah, the boy he had just met. The boy that Braden's string had appeared attached to, 19 years late to the party. The boy that...had really pretty eyes. Wait, what? Braden wasn't really just thinking that, was he? He looked down at his hand again, only to see that there wasn't anything there. Out of the corner he could see Elijah do the same; they then locked eyes, thinking the same thing.
'Where did the string go? Did it even show up in the first place?'
Elijah could feel himself staring at the boy he had just met moments ago in front of him. Braden, he said his name was, had pretty eyes. He felt the heat rise to his face as he realized what he had just thought. Elijah shook his head, and then attempted to smile at Braden.
"So, uh, what the heck?" he said, less of a question and more of a statement. Braden nodded, still bewildered to speak. After a while, the two began chatting as if either nothing had happened or as if the string would come back and confirm that the two were soulmates. Elijah had an idea and grinned, pulling out his phone, a pen, and a piece of scrap paper he had in his pocket. Braden watched him scribble something down on the paper from the phone curiously. Elijah's face went redder as he handed the paper to Braden, then stood up and left when Sub showed up and motioned for him.
Denis and Alex came back and asked why Braden hadn't shown up. It had been an hour and a half. Braden beamed at his best friend and his boyfriend. "I just got the cute guy's number." he said, then stood up and walked back to his house with the two, humming happily.
(Oh wow, this is late, it's late, and I'm tired.)
