Right after school, I set off to Ruby's house. He has texted me during my 6th period class saying, "My parents are going out tonight. I need to take care of the twins, wanna help?" I responded 'yes', of course. Although they can be a handful, I don't mind. As soon as I got home, I felt terrible cramps but sucked it up anyway. I grabbed Midol and Tylenol pills from the medicine cabinet and put a few extra in my back pocket. Grabbing my charger and purse, I made my way down the street.
"On my way." I texted him. He just responded with "hurry!". I walked a little faster, but I couldn't run that fast with my stomach killing me. I hate being a girl sometimes. Walking in, I can see he already let all the kids walk over him.
"I have the scissors, Ruby, what are you gonna do about it!" The little boy screamed.
"Come on! Give them back to me!" He yelled at him.
"Never!" He said tossing them to his sister, who surprising caught them. I quickly ran in, saving all three of them from a disaster waiting to happen.
"Both of you, put down the scissors and go to your room!" I shout at them pointing my finger.
"Yes ma'am." They say giving me the scissors and laughing on their way to the room. (I have a younger sister and she does not go this easily, but it's a fanfic so in this case, it does.)
"Thank you." Ruby says sitting down on the couch ruffling his hair. "I don't know what I'd do with out you."
"No problem. I'm a pretty good babysitter, huh." I say smiling.
"Whatever." He laughs, "but they won't last 5 minuets in there. So I suggest, some snacks?" He asks getting up to walk over to the kitchen.
"Sure. What do they like? Carrots, celery, and ranch? That's what my cousins eat." I explain looking through the fridge. But he just laughs at me.
"Y/n, really? These are the twins. They probably don't even know what carrots are!" He says laughing. He pulls out a tray and puts 3 different types of chips in it. In another small bowl, he pours candy into it. "It's seems really bad, but this is what they like." He reminds me. Considering our age, I know I'm too young to even be thinking about this, but I can't help it. He would make an amazing dad.
Sure enough, after eating, both twins fell asleep. Both toddlers where asleep on the couch and me and Ruby sat together on the opposite side. It had been a long day, and I started to fall asleep. Without even realizing it, I had slowly fallen asleep on his chest.
My phone rang, waking me up promptly. Once I realized I'd woken the both of us up, I quickly answered the phone whispering.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Where are you?" My mom asks.
"I'm saying over at Monses tonight. Remember?" I lied.
"No. Are you sure you told me?" She asks.
"Yes! And you told me I could spend the night."
"I might have been too drunk to function. Just stay over, it's already late and I don't want you walking the streets alone."
"Okay."
"Be careful, love you." She says tiredly.
"Love you too, mom. Good night."
I put my phone down looking at the TV then back at Ruby. "Sorry, I didn't realize I'd fallen asleep." I lightly chuckle.
"No! I mean, 'no it's fine.'" He tells me, slowly leaning in. I don't know what happened, but we both kissed. First, a quick kiss, just realizing the fact that we kissed. Then again, a little longer. Until I pushed away.
"I'm so sorry! It's not you, it's me!" I say running off down the hall.
"What did I do?!" He tells.
"Hold on!" I shout. Running to the restroom I sit down. Great. This is the worst possible time to get my period. I groan and pull out pills from my back pocket, taking it with sink water.
Walking back, I had to ask him, "Do you have spare pant I can have, like, forever?" Once I say that, I realize how weird that sounds. "I'm spending the night and I need some pants. And well, you probably won't be getting them back." I say smiling shyly.
"Oh. Ohh. Ohhh! I know why- um. Yeah, uh, erm. Yeah. I'll be back." He says running to his room. Once I change we go back to couch, me using his moms products. I don't remember much, but what I'd remember is waking up the next morning in the same place at the previous night.
