Chapter 9

MAIA'S POV.

I wake up with someone's arms around me and then I remember that Ross stayed the night. I instantly smile and turn to face him. When I turned around it wasn't Ross who was holding me, it was Evan. I started getting confused so I slowly got out of bed and went into the living room. I tried remembering what happened last night and I can only remember me breaking up with Evan and Ross coming over. I decided to text Ross, but as I was about to text him my phone alarm went off. I looked at it and it was a reminder that I have to go to the Directors guild of America awards tonight.

"What the heck" I whispered to myself, "I swear I went to that yesterday."

I checked the date on my phone and it read January 25th.

"Oh my god" I whispered to myself

I then realized that everything that happened at the award ceremony with Ross, me breaking up with Evan and Ross staying the night was all just a dream. But it couldn't have been a dream it all felt so real. I guess that only means one thing. I'm still in love with Ross and I have to break up with Evan. Just then Evan walked out and wrapped his arms around me.

"Morning baby" Evan said kissing my cheek

"Um morning" I said turning around facing him

"What's wrong?" he asked

"How about we sit down for this" I said leading him towards the couch

"What's going on Maia?" He asked concerned

"I think we need to break up" I said tears already forming in my eyes

"What? why?" he asked confused

"I realized that I don't love you romantically, but I love you like a brother. And I'm sorry that it took me this long to realize this and I don't mean to hurt you. We've been friends since we were little and I don't want to lose you as my friend just because of this. I'm really sorry Evan" I said while crying

"Shh Maia, it's okay" he said while rubbing my back

"Evan I'm really sorry" I said wiping the tears off my face

"It's okay Maia. I'm fine. I think I should go now." Evan said standing up

I stand up too and give him a hug and walk him out. Once I close the door I look at my phone and realize I have to start getting ready for the award ceremony.

*couple hours later*

(Still Maia's pov)

I finally arrive at the DGAA. As soon as I got out of the car I immediately see Ross. I smile while I watch him smile for the cameras. I then see that Someone is standing next to Ross. I walk closer to where Ross is standing and see that Laura is standing next to Ross. I see Ross look over at her and smile, but she's looking at a camera. I realize that that's the face Ross looked at me with when he told me he liked me. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes but I immediately wiped them away before anyone could see. I walked over to near where Ross and Laura were standing. As I was posing for cameras, Ross kept smiling at me but I just pretended not to see him.

After I posed for a couple minutes, we started heading inside. We quickly found our table and of course the only seat left was next to Ross. This is going to be a long awards ceremony.

*2 hours later*

The award ceremony could not have gotten over sooner. When Teen Beach Movie was called for an award, Laura kissed Ross on the cheek and hugged him. I stood up and gave our director a hug and told him congratulations. Ross was about to say something to me but Laura started talking to him before he could. I walked to my car and drove home. All I wanted to do was go to bed.
