Painted Wings (A Fallacy x Encre book)

Chapter 7

Encre's PoV:

     It was the next morning. I checked Erra's room to see if she came back. Nothing. It was still in ruins from what happened yesterday. I sighed and walked downstairs for breakfast. When I got down I noticed that Jasper was asking the maids something as he kept switching to one of them every second. I just ignored it and walked past thats when Suave came over to talk to me. "Hey Encre can I ask you something" he says.
"Yeah? sure?" I say confused.
"How did you and Lord Fallacy find out about Erra's plan?" He asks. The whole room went quiet and it seemed like everyone was looking at me but I responded anyway. "We found a note, and it told of Erra's plan,"
"Do you still have the note?"
I nod and I take out the note and I hand it to him. He reads it.
"This looks like a childs hand writ-" his eyes open wide like realization hit him. "Carlos!" He says. Everyone around me gasped while I just tilted my bead in confusion. "Who is Carlos?" I asked.
"Jasper will explain to you. Right now I have to talk with someone" he says and runs off. I look to Jasper and he nods his head. We sit down at the table and he explains. "Okay so Charlos is another vampire who comes and goes from the castle as he pleases." He says. I nod my head at him to signal him to keep talking. "He is a trouble maker and acts like he owns everything and he treat everyone like crap."
"Then why-"
"He has an ultima" he says cutting me off.
"Ultima?" I ask.
"Oh you dont know what an ultima is?" I shake my head. "Okay then let me explain. Every 'mythical being' like vampires and werewolves have ultimas, but only few actually have it." He says. Suddenly I feel more intrigued to know more about ultimas so I ask him to continue more about them. "Okay! So mostly all ultima powers are the same. The Ultimit, the ones that have the ultima, are really strong and usally are the kings and queens of their species." He tells me. So wait does that mean that Fallacy is an Ultimit? I thought and Jasper continues on. " But the ultima power is dangerous. It could kill mortals. Basically the way the ultima shows is from the eyes. The eyes of an Ultimit using it turn purple then turn red toward the center if the eye. If any mortal looks into the Ultima eyes for too long." He stops and looks down with an sad face. "They die or turn into the creature that has the Ultima. But its a higher chance you will die then change" he says.
"How does the Ultima activate? Is it automatic or something else?" I ask him.
"Usally its activated when the Ultimit gets really really mad," he says.
"Who has the Ultima? I know Carlos does, but who else?"
"Well theres me, Fallacy, Carlos, and Erra. Those are the main ones I know,"
"So you have it too?"
"Yes though I have never activated it, but the others have." He stops and looks down sadly again. "Especially Erra," I look at him confused hoping he'll tell me what happend thats when I hear yelling from Suave and what sounds like a child. I turn around to see a ginger haired vampire with a golden heart locket being carried by Suave. Behind him is a small little maid with brown hair. "This is Carlos and this little lady." He motions towards the small maid. "Is his maid Fibi," she smiles and waves at me. I wave back. "Now Carlos," he says angerly.
"Fine!" Carlos yells. "I wrote the note and gave it to Fallacy and the mortal,"
"But why?" Jasper asks.
"Becuase Erra is a meanie. And becuase a mortal isnt supposed to be here,"
"That still gives you no right to do that to Erra, now she's gone," I say.
"Good riddance" he says. "I hope she doesnt come back"
"Carlos!" We all turn to see Fallacy with something in his arms. It took me a bit to realize it was Erra. He walked over to Suave and handed her to him then he spoke again. "Carlos I would like a chat with you" he say. Carlos striken with fear just nods and follows Fallacy.

     In the infirmary Erra is checked on to see if she was harmed. The maids didnt find anything to severe, just some cuts and brusies and scars. I waited outside of the infirmary to get anymore info about her thats when Fallacy walks up to me. "Hey?" He says in an uncertain voice.
"You didnt hurt him did you?" I ask him.
"No I only gave him a warning, " he says.
"Good." It was silent for a bit then I spoke again. "How-"
"I went looking for her. Though I may not show it I care a great deal for both her and Jasper." He says.
"Oh," I look down. So he does care about them really much.
"I know you might not think thats true becuase of what you saw yesterday with me destroying her room." He takes a deep breath then speaks again. "But she's like my child, she's been with me since she was a little girl and I do care for her." He says. I look up at him.
"I wasnt expecting you to be a softie" I say jokingly. He looks at me in shock and a blue blush spreads over his cheekbones. I giggle at him and he clears his throat.(but skeletons dont have a throat- you know what nevermind) "W-well, I um...." he stutters. I giggle more at this and soon we're both laughing. Once we calm down he speaks again. "Well Encre, if you like I'll let you go back to the village. But you have to promise never to speak about being here," I look up him in disbelief. I was going to say yes but something in me told to stay here. "No," I say
"Huh," he looks at me confused.
"I want to stay here." I say. "I-if you let me." He smiles. "Yes you are welcome to stay here all you like" I smile back at him. I knew life was going to be difficult living with vampires but I knew that I had to stay. Though someting inside me knew there were going to be alot of conflicts and danger in the way I didn't care.

Suave's PoV:

     I listened to Encre and Fallacy's coversation. And I knew one thing for sure.

The change had finally come.
