Upon A Midnight Kiss

Chapter 9

After going to the ice rink, Nate and I went to a cafe, it was cute but definitely relaxing. We talked and laughed for a few hours. He and I exchanged stories and secrets.

Now, Nate is driving us to his "secret" place. I'm starting to worry cause we're in the middle of nowhere. I can only see trees as we pass by.

"Nate, where are we really going?"

"Don't worry babe, trust me." he's smirking. This is bad. Crap, maybe he'll kill me. Maybe he is still pissed about the kiss. Maybe he planned all of this.

"Here we are" ok, this is the end. goodbye everyone. this is really the end.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw him smiling at me. I look at our surroundings, surprise surprise, it's trees, trees and more trees.

"hmmm, Nate where are we? I don't. see anything"

"That's because you don't look up." he tell me, staring at the sky. Confused, I did what he said and what I saw surprised me.

Tree Houses.

Yes. Houses. Every tree in the spot has a house.

"Who made all of these?" I asked, gaping at the beautiful scenery right in front of me.

"My friends. Everyone of us has one. When we have a new friend, we would build another one."

I can't help but feel jealous of their friendship. They were all so rude to others but when they're alone they're. actually nice to each other.

Me and my friends were close but we never thought of doing something like this.

But what if they fight? or When they have to leave?

"Whenever we have a serious fight. We just close his treehouse but never damage it." he said as if answering my thoughts. I just stayed silent.

"Enough with the stories. You wanna come up?" he said. finally looking at me.

I smiled then nodded.

where are the stairs?

"Nate, how are we going up?"

"We climb" he said "Don't worry, I'll help you"

-after multiple times of falling, we finally reached at the house!

"You know," he started "you're the first girl I brought here"

what?! really?!?!

"Are you serious?" I asked

"Yep" he said, popping the letter 'p'

ahwwwwww.. he's so sweet. maybe he's the one for me.

"You know something else? I lo-"

SINGING RADIOHEAD ON THE TOP OF-

"Hello?!"

why??? why now?? he was about to say-

"Sweetie, it's. your dad."

"Dad," I started, a little nervous. "why'd you call?" I added a little laugh

"Sweetie, it's late. Where are you?"

Late? It's still 10:00.

"We are coming home now. Don't worry dad." I quickly end the call and glance at Nate. He looks sad.

"Nate-" I started but he quickly interrupt.

"No it's ok. I understand. Come on, let's go." he said with a small smile.

The ride back was silent. Not awkward silence but a comfortable one..

I was now in my room with a plastered smile on my face.

-flashback-

"Athena"

we were now walking towards through door of my house

"yes?" I asked

"Athena, I want to tell you something." what if he find me boring.

"I.. I really had fun today. Especially cause you are here with me. and I... I want to tell you that I'm falling in love with you" he cupped my face then kissed me.

this wasn't sparks. i feel fireworks.

they were everywhere.

He broke the kiss then gave me another peck.

I stare at him, lost for words.

"Nate, I- " I was cut off by a cough. I saw dad infront of us, glaring at Nate.

"Times up. Inside Athena." i smiled at his protectiveness.

"Let's. go dad." I said dragging dad inside the house.

Before I go- I smiled at Nate then mouthed the words " I LOVE YOU too"

-flashback over-

We said it. well, technically he said it and I just mouthed the words. but still. we both feel the same way.

Maybe he really is different from what I thought.

Maybe..
