7:30 my clock read, making me panic.

I quickly jumped out of bed and looked at my phone, reading the 52 messages my best friend Jennie sent me telling me to wake up.

My sleeping schedule is off since it's the first day back from spring break.

I quickly woke my little brother up and told him that I'd only be able to walk him halfway to school since I was almost late.

I sped to school and made it for the last 10 minutes of breakfast.

As I got my breakfast, I noticed the principal and my favorite teacher had a serious talk.

I sat down next to my best friend Jennie,

"What time did you sleep?'" She asked

"Late," I said with no expression on my face

"Did you see the principal speaking to Mr.C?" She asked

"Yeah, it looked serious. I hope it's nothing bad." I said slightly worried

"We'll ask in homeroom" Jennie suggested

I nodded. The bell rang and it was time to go to homeroom. As everyone sat down, I went up to Mr. C to ask what the conversation was about,

"Mr. C is everything okay with you and the principal?" I asked

"Well... I've been meaning to talk to you..." he said a bit worried making me worried too

"Yeah?" I said nervously

He pulled me to the side and finally said,
"Well, the education board has decided to let the Boys Academy on the west side join this school and in today's assembly I want you to tell the school"

I stood there frozen for a while. My school an all-girls school is gonna be joined by boys after decades of them being separated. And I have to break the news?!

"What?! Why me?" I asked

"Well you are ranked number one from your test scores and you are my top student. A lot of these girls look up to you. They accept anything you say."

I just stared at him.

"Look please help me out. I already told the principal that you'd do it for me-"

"Ok! Ok fine! When is this assembly?"

"In an hour," he said guiltily

"What ?! I don't have anything prepared! I-" I complained

"That's why I'm giving you this whole class period to come up with something. Ok? I know you can do it" he said

"Ok ok fine. But I better be excused from this work" I demanded

"Yes absolutely. So we're all good?" He asked

I simply nodded

"That's my star student," he said as he ruffled my hair and walked to the front of the class

I walked back to my seat grumpily and pulled out a bunch of note cards.

Jennie who was sitting next to me asked,

"Why so down? What happened?"

I looked at her,

"You'll see."
