Song: Hui - Who Am I
Recap:
"No we don't know who it is. But we do have the photograph and we have the blazer. We can look through the records of children that went missing in the area. The police have to have something. And we should definitely look into that school emblem, find out if any children with that same look came from that school. Do you recog-"A low wail interrupted their conversation. It came from the person they were there to save and that same person was demanding attention.
"What is that?" Bobby clutched at his ears.
"Oh yeah, you're hypersensitive. That, is our good friend Elyssa letting us know that she's still there."
Chapter Seven: Lies on Fire
A soft glow of light trickled through the yellow curtains and gradually lit up the room as dawn turned the day from night into morning. The softest splash of colours radiated across the sky as the sun sent out a radiated red beam across the window, lighting it up like a warning from some higher power. It seemed as if the sun knew more than it could let on, but the sun's light was warning enough. A hum could be heard from somewhere in the distance, otherwise the house was quiet. But it wasn't an empty house.
No, it wasn't. Shortly after the hum had begun its low insertion into the sound of the world around them, a scream started. And it seemed to never end. A scream, over and over, high pitched and abnormally loud. The hum kept its low pitch and gradual pacing until suddenly a door slammed open, and shut much softer than it had opened. Someone came from the right side, wearing all black, apart from red stained garden gloves which whomever it was peeled off of their hands.
It didn't matter how the door was slammed, or how the garden gloves were peeled off of their wearer's sweaty hands. But it was important to know that the owner of the gloves' heart was beating fast, as he sighed at his reflection in the bleached clean kitchen tiles in front of him. And, it was also important to note that he wore black, and his gloves were once a shade of ivory white.
This man was not a gardener.
He did not work in gardens, although he had a lovely wide garden at the back of his grand house. He was not rich. He could barely afford the day-to-day supplies of food, water and electricity bills. Half of the time, he didn't bother paying the water bill or the electricity bill. Often, he went about his daily life without using electricity; he had no use for lights and central heating.
But he wasn't a vampire.
It wasn't like he could easily survive without heating or light, but he did have substitutes in the forms of thick clothes and blankets. And he did use torches or candlelight so that he could see when it got too dark. He washed fairly often when he stayed at hotels, or his friends places. But he had no need to keep remembering to pay the water bill when half of the time he was barely at home, but out and about doing his job.
For he had a mission.
Something, he was funded for and was quite proud that he was actually getting paid for it this time around. He guessed that the higher-ups must have been proud of the work that he had partaken in, and he guessed that that had to be a good thing. Since then, he had partaken in a few more – missions. He had also enlisted help in his latest mission, since there were distractions to be created and watched over.
He was the mastermind.
Of everything but his own life. He knew that he finally had control, and power that he had never had before, since his parents left him when he was young, left him alone in an unfamiliar world, but he knew that he had to carry out these important messages, and he would so continue to do that. He was hungry. He wanted to make himself food, but he wasn't sure what he had in the fridge, so he opened it to find nothing but a mouldy banana which he wondered why it was in the fridge. He checked through the cupboards and found a lucky tin of tomato soup that was in the cupboard next to some tins of beans, a tin of coconut milk which must have been years old. Placing the chosen soup tin on the side, he reached up to open a cupboard higher than him, when all of a sudden his eyes caught the bulging eyes of his pet fish. Clarence.
