Song - Candy Paint - Post Malone
Recap:
"She's everything I can't talk about. You don't get to wear her face, okay? Not ever. You don't get my heart just because you're wearing her face. This is not some line you can cross just because you think that it's a way to sidestep the fates. It's not going to work out." As he spoke, she tilted her head, with curiosity, studying what he was saying with her curious cat eyes, and her skin started to turn several shades lighter, until it was a shade close to ivory. Her eyes stayed that green colour with the slit in them, and her hair became shorter, her shoulders broader.
"You know the story. Father sacrifices his life and his son's true love so that his mother can escape a doomed marriage. Typical, depressing, and my life. You can fill in the rest with your fat head, and your stupidity. I'm going to eat my soup. And then, I'm going to have some fun."
Chapter Eight: By Candlelight
"Yesterday at five in the afternoon, it has been reported that an very important man was kidnapped from just outside of his hotel room in The Grande Naturissme Hotel just forty-five minutes from the police station. This important man was reported to have been a member of the council. Police are warning everyone to stay indoors tonight regardless of race or gender, as the hit on such an important member of the council is quite drastic to our infrastructure. They are currently still looking into how it was done. This is as you probably already know by now, very important. As you can see from the footage here we see the councilman stood by the door to his room." The news reporter pointed to the screen behind her which started to play a blurry clip of a man in a suit fumbling with the keys to his hotel room. He appeared to turn back nervously, as if he had seen someone suspicious, or as if he had been chased. He took his tie off before turning the key in the lock, and the moment that he turned around for a last time, the CCTV cameras went dark. They caught no more footage. And a few hours later when they were rewired, and turned back on, the councilman had vanished leaving behind only his keys still in the keyhole.
"So here you can see that the councilman has vanished, but the strangest thing was that everything was left behind as if he was never there in the first place. The keys had no finger prints on them, there was no sign of life in a three-mile radius other than others going about their daily life. Over to Sandra McDavis for the weather."
A blue breaking news banner kept going around at the bottom of the screen repeating three phrases over and over again in capitals as a woman with a somber expression appeared on screen dictating the cloudy weather with a ruler against the map of Britain, her face made her appear older and miserable with sunken in eyes and a greying complexion:
- STATE-WIDE CURFEW TONIGHT FOR 8PM
- COUNCILMAN PETERSON GONE MISSING
- CALL 0161 FOR THE NORTH-HOLINGBROOKE POLICE STATION IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON HIS WHEREABOUTS
Amongst those that were watching the television screen in Maria's Blanc Café, was its oldest waitress, a woman of fifty years who had seen a lot come and go in this town, from the changes that came with the breakthrough of Vampire Rights, and then again when vampires became more stable in society rather than when it was legal to freely hunt any of them down. There were more laws in place because of the council than there ever had been before. She took a packet of cigarettes out of her pocket whilst she was watching the television screen and pulled one out, holding it between her pale purple painted lips. A few long strands of greying hair dropped into her line of sight, as she searched through her pockets for her lighter. A fellow waiter skated over to her, with his own lighter in hand, he held onto the edge of the counter-top, leaning over to light her cigarette for her. She smiled at him, and winked, in gratitude, as he skated away from her.
