Chapter Four: Elyssa Quincy
"So what happened? Where did the thing happen? How do you know she's gone?" Bob was shocked, he didn't think that it was possible for Hector to have lost his sister.
"She was upset, she said that someone has been watching her recently. I called her a liar cos she don't go nowhere. And then out of the blue, she storms off, running from me like a madwoman. She my sister, I need to find her." Hector ranted on and on and on. He seemed to be angered that his sister had ran from him at random but his red eyes glowed stronger like beams of laser light. Desdemona listened with close ears and she perked up remembering the blur earlier from some woman who had run past them.
"I think I saw her-" She started to speak before Bobby pinched her. It looked like Gunner was reaching to do the same. It also looked like Gunner was frustrated with them for spending so much time and effort conversing with this wild eyed vampire.
"This is Hector Quincy. He is the second of the North Holingbrooke vampire clan. Second to Lord Portly, the one I spilt blood on. And the she, is his sister Elyssa whom I can only presume to think she has gone missing."
"Oh. Okay," Then Desdemona turned to Gunner, "And what's the matter with you? You have been quiet all this time."
"Perhaps I am partaking in something that you might never have heard of before. Something called Observing in Amusement."
"Are you sure you don't want to change that to Being Callous?" Gunner laughed out loud to that and gestured to their customer.
"Aren't you forgetting someone?"
"Oh yes." She curtsied and apologized to Hector for her ignorance. Hector shook it off and just smiled toothily at their relationship before he remembered his worries. Bob adjusted his shirt before swiveling around on one heel to order a pint of bitter at the bar behind them.
"So what direction did you see her running in?" Hector asked with an uncertain patience that only he had in this situation. Desdemona immediately jumped to the question.
"I'm more than half-certain that I saw her running towards the backrooms? Maybe she was going to rendezvous and she didn't want you to know?" Hector grumbled something under his breath but it sounded like a curse-word. He shook his head and stalked forward a few steps, his eyes shutting in annoyance. Bob growled and stepped forward, a vampire with a newfound strength, a bond of protection for his newly made friends. Gunner just leant back on the side, the heat of his warrant burning a hole in his pocket. It was almost like he could feel that they would end up helping this Hector find his dear sister regardless if there was a prominent mission ahead of them. He knew he could just leave now and search for them, but there was something in Desdemona's eyes that forced him to remain.
Half of him wondered if he had found his one love again. But the other half of him refused to believe it. He knew he would have to go to the oracle again at some point in the week. He had to figure out what was going on, amidst everything on the radio, and the magic stirrings that he could feel in the airwaves. No one could deny the goosebumps that ran along his arms.
"She has no one to rendezvous with. I told you she's been scared recently, maybe someone has kidnapped her. Its obviously not me, or the Lord, or any one of us vampires here. She doesn't talk to most of the lower class vampires, she stays in her place. Ruling the hotel. Picking the perfect tributes." Hector spoke smoothly, words like liquid chocolate, but something didn't sit right.
"What do you mean, 'she stays in her place'? What on earth does that mean-" Desdemona's words were muffled by a hand and a arm swung around her, tugging her backwards. It was Gunner. He knew her words would get her in trouble, especially where the clan was concerned. They were on vampire territory and he knew that even a hunter entered a grey area where vampires who were not exiled were concerned. She struggled for a bit and then relaxed, deciding to aim a perfect elbow to his face later when he wasn't looking.
