Its been a week since school started again. Luke seemed to be settling in well and Amy was happy that Luke was settling in. I would see Amy a lot during the school day as we were sat next to each other in almost every class. I would also see Amy at lunch and break and she would meet me in the library and most of the time she would bring Sarah and Abbie with her. We all got along well and we would all have a bit of a laugh until the librarian told us to quieten down which would make us laugh even more. But we were never kicked out of the library we were just always told to quieten down.

Then one day when Abbie was off ill and Sarah was on a field trip for the day the first hurricane in 20 years happened. We were all taken to the library whilst others were taken to the changing rooms or the hall or anywhere were there weren't as many windows.

When we finally entered the library I went searching for Amy. After a few minutes of searching I found her hugging her knees and curled up into a tight ball behind one of the bookshelves. She looked terrified and I couldn't blame her. I started walking towards her and she looked up at me and I could see the fear in her eyes.
" Hey, come here." I sat down beside her and brought her into a tight hug. I rubbed her back with my hand trying to calm her down.
" I'm scared Chris." She mumbled into my shoulder.
" I know. But I'm here now okay. I might not be able to stop the hurricane but I can try to take your mind off of it." My voice was calm and quiet. I knew I had to be brave, for Amy's sake.

We started talking and I tried to help her calm down and forget about the hurricane outside. Then slowly I could feel Amy's arms begin to loosen and her breathing started to clam down a little. Then lightning hit the school and the whole schools power went out. I could feel Amy's grip getting slightly tighter so I got my phone out and turned on the torch.
" Don't worry I'm here. Ive got you." I kissed her gently on her forehead and Amy instantly started to relax. She gave me a small smile before resting her head on my shoulder.
" Why are you so kind to me." When Amy asked me this my heart sank.
" Because you mean the world to me. Your beautiful and kind and you make me laugh and the list goes on." I held her hand and rubbed my thumb against her palm.

After a few hours of waiting for the hurricane and storm to stop some of the teachers came round offering food and drinks. After we had all had something to eat and drink we had all started to calm down a little. I looked down at the hand that I had used to rub the palm of Amy's hand to calm her down. Our fingers were now interlocked with each other.

I looked at my phone and realised that the battery was about to die and I could tell that Amy had seen because she got her phone out of her bag and turned on her torch.
" How long do you think this storm and hurricane will last?" I asked Amy.
" I have no clue. Hopefully not long." She said. I could tell that she was feeling better and that she had relaxed a bit. But ever time the thunder roared or the lightning came closer I would feel Amy tense up slightly and then she would relax a few minutes later.

We ended up having to spend the night trapped in the school and then most of the next day. Then we finally were allowed to go home. Everything was a mess and rubbish littered the streets. Some trees had fallen over in the storm but thankfully no one had been hurt. We were then given the week off of school. We met up with Luke and we found out that he had been taken to the hall with a bunch of other students.

All of the roads were closed so we all had to walk home. We talked and we would often stop and help people we knew who were trying to clean up or were trapped. Then as the sun was setting we finally made it back to my house. I offered to walk with Amy and Luke back to the farm and then come back home but they didn't want me to waste my time.

We said goodbye and then a few minutes later I got a text from Amy.
Amy: hey we finally made it back.
Chris: how are things there?
Amy: eh its kinda messy but I'll probably start cleaning it all up tomorrow.
Chris: need any help?
Amy: you sure?
Chris: of course I'm sure.
Chris: what do you need help with?
Amy: just clearing up all of the rubbish and doing a few repairs.
Chris: Sounds fun.
Amy: well I guess I'll see you tomorrow then.
Chris : tomorrow it is then
