The core four stood at the bus station with teary eyes. Today was the day Jughead would leave and would not come back for one year. The three; Betty, Archie, and Veronica, hugged Jughead Jones, Riverdale's certified writer wierdo. They pulled him into a tight hug.
After letting go, they all took turns to speak to him before he would leave.
Archie was first, to whom Jughead had whispered four words that Archie made a promise to do. 'Take care of her.' Jughead had said to the ginger before saying goodbye.
Next was the sassy, raven-haired latina, Veronica. Jughead opened his arms and held her in a hug that seemed to be for siblings. 'See you soon. I'll miss you Jones,' She said to him and let go. 'Same with you Lodge,' he said, and Veronica scooted over to Archie's side.
Betty was kast, and resisted tears but desperately failed. She held him tight. Not wanting to let go. 'I promise I'll be back, Juliet' He said. But unexpectedly, Betty leaned over and kissed him full on the lips.
In that surreal moment, Jughead forgot about everything. From the back of his head, he could hear his dad saying it was time to go, but he didn't mind anymore.
Once Betty pulled away, she hugged him once more and ran to Archie's side as well, the other two frozen with perplexed looks on their faces. Once they got over it, Veronica squealed with joy. Betty only giggled.
But as they saw Jughead climb on the bus to Toledo and sit by the window seat, the squeal was replaced with a sob. Jughead waved his hands to say goodbye. He would just be aching for the day when he would see them again.
Little did he know that he would regret ever coming back.
