Chapter Eight: Confrontations

"How do you know that?"

Those words kept ringing inside Veronica Lodge's head. That was one question she didn't answer the day. She merely shook her head and moved on to a different topic.

She was currently laying on the comfortable sheets of her bed, one hand over her forehead.

Her phone pinged. She jumped, having been shocked and springed out of her train of thought.

She checked it, it was a text from Jughead.

So... Betty and Arch want us 2 meet at pops. 2:00 p.m. They say they need to say some stuff. U game? I won't go if u won't. Kinda wierd. But then again, wierd is my middle name.

Lodge 🏡
No, actually, your middle name is Pendleton.

Jones ✒
Don't start lodge.

Jones ✒
Sure.

And with that, Veronica dashed over to her large cream-colored closet to find her most chic but casual outfit. She hadn't seen Archie, and she wanted to impress him.

Jughead leaned against the side of his car, waiting for Veronica to go downstairs. In the meantime, he thought of things to say once he would see Betty again.

Would he say that he loved her? Would he be furious too se her with Archie? What would be his response, when in the first place he couldn't muster up a word that couldn't hurt her?

The large doors of the Pembrooke swung open to reveal Smithers opening the door for Veronica. "Thank you Smithers," Veronica said to him. He nodded and closed the door.

"Ah! Jones. Come on, let's not keep them waiting," she said to him. "As you wish Lodge," he said sarcastically. He opened the car door and jumped into the drivers seat, Veronica doing the same, sliding into the passenger's seat.

A few minutes later, they arrived at Pop's Chocklit' Shop, the neon sign greeting them with a friendly shine. "So, you ready to face them?" Veronica suddenly asked. "We'll see," he said.

Veronica pulled him into a tight hug. "You know you'll always be my bestie/brother, right?" she said. She could feel Jughead hug her back and nod.

"Whatever happens, you can talk to me. We're in this together," she said and pulled away. "Okay," Jughead said and they walked into the diner.

As they walked in, they found the red head and the blonde sitting together, smiling at each other. And in the spur of a moment, they kissed. Quickly, of course. "Am I the only one who wants to internally puke?" Veronica whispered to Jughead. "Don't worry, me too," he said.

They walked over to the couple and sat on the opposite vinyl seat. The four exchanged looks. But Jughead didn't pay any attention to anyone else's looks. All he could do was stare at Betty.

She was still as beautiful as a year ago. She still had that ponytail that drove him insane. He looked at her. She looked at him. They exchanged looks.

"Don't want to ruin—"
"Shit Veronica!" Jughead said. He was shocked at the sudden voice that filled his ears. "Sorry, but as I was saying..." she paused and then whispered. "Don't want to ruin this MAJOR BUGHEAD moment, but... Archie's staring at you really jealously. So, yeah."

She said, and Jughead immediately sat upright from the postion where he could see Betty the best, and Archie heaved a sigh of relief. The three gazed at him conspicuously.

"Anyway," Betty cut in. "We both wanted you to be here because we wanted to, heal some cuts in our friendship," she started, her voice laced with an unsure tone.

"You call those cuts?" Veronica and Jughead murmured.

"We know we've... Surprised you all, especially you Jughead." she said. "I-i'm really sorry. But I love Archie." she said.

"Then why'd you kiss me?"

"I don't know!"

"Then why'd you say I would never lose you?"

Archie cut in, clearly annoyed by Jughead. "Look, Jughead, stop asking her questions, she made her choice, she doesn't want you!" he said forcibly. "Well fuck! What's the point in going here? We're already trying to move on, we get it Betty. You don't have to repeat." said Veronica. "See, see what I mean when I said our love is useless? I told you, she doesn't love me. She never will." Jughead said, storming out of the building.

"Jughead, wait!" said both Veronica and Betty. "V-veronica, can I please talk to him?" Betty pleaded. "I'm not one to stand in the middle of Bughead, but if you hurt my brother, you won't ever get to see him again," she said before sliding back into their booth.

In the meantime, Betty was busy looking for Jughead. She then found him in his car.

"Jug? Can we talk?" she asked. Jughead opened the door. "There's nothing left to talk about, Betty. Like your BOYFRIEND said, you made your decision. So, what do you want?"

He spoke in an irritated matter. "I just wanted to ask some questions..." her voice trailed off.

"Ask away. But might I say that you can't put this in some random newspaper, putting headlines about me." he said sarcastically.

"Well, Juggie, why'd you... Why didn't you tell me sooner?" she asked. "Look, Betty, if this is a way of you getting out of the blame, stop it. Stop messing up my head! Ever since we were kids, I've always loved you. Okay? But of course, there was Archie. Archie with the perfect hair, Archie with the perfect smile, Archie with the perfect everything!" he said and turned into a fit of tears.

Veronica walked out of Pop's to see Betty and Jughead in the car, Betty hugging Jughead. She knocked on the window. Betty slowly rolled it down. "So, I'm guessing this is called Bughead?" she asked, laughing. "I seriously hate doing this everytime, but Archie's looking for you. I'm so sorry again for ruining Bughead," she said.

"Seriously, V. It's fine." Betty said. In between sobs, Jughead came to his senses and pulled away. "Bye." he said and Betty quickly got out of the car, replaced by Veronica.

"Jug, you okay?" she asked.

"Maybe,"

I'm soooo sorry if there was too much Vughead here. Honestly they are like, the best siblings ever.

Also, they treat each other like siblings here (atleast veronica does).
Anywaaay...

Flippin ARCHIE ANDREWS BEING A FULL BLOWN JERK AND RUINING BUGHEAD!😡😡 sorry if Veronica seems to like ruin bughead every chance she gets, but yeah. Its part of the story.
