Miles did not know when exactly he had fallen asleep, but he was suddenly woken up by his phone ringing.

Confused, he sat up and looked around.

Scott was still sleeping right next to him.

When Miles took a look at his phone screen, he noticed that he had a message on his mailbox. From dad.

"Miles, do you know where Claire is? We have a suspect, someone contacted her profile and suggested to meet at night in the Central Park. We need this computer guy, whatever his name was!"

Miles sighed. It was 4.30am, he was awfully tired and already hungover. Why now? Couldn't those vampires pick a reasonable time to react to the fake profile?

As quietly as possible, Miles stood up and slipped into his shoes.

"What are you doing?" Scott's sleepy voice suddenly sounded from behind him and Miles flinched.

"Sorry, I have to leave", he explained and grabbed his jacket.

Before Scott could say anything, he had already left the flat and hurried down the stairs.

Luckily, Claire had given him Lawrence's phone number, so he called him on his way to the subway station.

"Hello?", Lawrence immediately took up the phone, without sounding the slightest bit sleepy.

"You're already up?", Miles was surprised and Lawrence laughed: "Still."

Miles shook his head: "Well, anyway. We need your help. Someone texted Claire, can you check where the message came from?"

"Sure", Lawrence said and Miles heard him typing on his computer keyboard quickly.

"Um...", he suddenly said and Miles frowned: "Is there a problem?"

"No, no! I just ... um, is Claire with you?"

Miles grinned: "No, she isn't. Do you have any idea where she could be?"

"No", Lawrence said and sounded a bit disappointed. "Oh wait, I found it, where the message came from. I'll send you the address."

Only a minute later, Miles was sitting in the train and received Lawrences message.

When he finally arrived home, Dad and Lawrence were already waiting in the hallway.

"Why is Claire never there when we need her?!", Dad grumbled, then he spotted Miles: "Well, at least you came."

Miles showed him his phone: "I got the address."

"Great, let's go", Dad took off and his sons followed him. While Dad was getting the car, Miles and Logan waited on the street.

Suddenly, Logan turned to his little brother: "Did you drink alcohol?!"

"Um...", Miles bit his lip.

Logan rolled his eyes and handed him a pack of mint gum: "Dad shouldn't find out about that!"

Miles took a handful of gum gratefully and put it in his mouth. Only a few seconds later, Dad stopped the car in front of them and they got in.

They drove to that address in Brooklyn that Lawrence had sent them.

Dad parked the car in the street before that, then they sneeked around the block until they reached some fire escape ladders.

Logan was the first to climb up, then Miles followed him, and eventually Dad, too.

There were two windows on this side of the building, that belonged to the flat that the message to Claire had been send from.

Logan began quietly breaking open the window to the neighbour flat, while Miles and Dad waited.

"What the hell is this minty smell?", Dad cursed quietly and Miles just shrugged innocently.

Logan used the neighnour flat to get into the hallway of the building, and Dad and Miles each took one of the windows of the vampire flat.

Dad counted to three with his fingers, then he and Miles broke the windows at the same time and threw a hand grenade with vampire poison into the room. After they exploded, the poisonous smoke filled the living room and the bedroom. A few seconds later, they heard the vampires screaming and coughing.

At Dad's signal, Miles jumped into the room.

A coughing vampire came running towards him, his eyes glowing red. The vampire's face turned into a grimace and he growled, jumping at Miles.

He grabbed Miles' neck and pushed him against the wall, but suddenly his eyes widened and he stopped moving.

Miles pulled his knife out of the the vampire's chest, who now sank to the floor, then he took the gun out of his belt and aimed at his head.

Thanks to the sound absorber they had on all of their guns, no one outside of this flat would hear the gun shots.

A woman with red glowing eyes stared at the vampire's body on the floor, then at Miles. She whimpered, which quickly turned into growling and she tried to attack Miles, but he was faster and she fell to the floor, next to her boyfriend.

Miles opened the door to the living room, where his Dad was holding a vampire, while Logan pressed a gun against the vampire's forehead.

Next to them, there were already other dead vampires on the floor, when finally the last one joined the dead bodies.

But Dad was frustrated: "Three of them were able to escape. There was another window on the east side of the building."

"At least we got most of them", Miles said and Logan added: "I'm sure we'll find the others, too."

But still, Dad was anything but satisfied.

"Claire", he growled and Logan and Miles shared a quick concerned look.

"Had she been here, we could have covered all the windows and all of this would not have happened!", Dad continued, but Miles interrupted him: "Hey, we are going to get those other vampires! But now we better leave this place ..."
