Annoyed and bored, Miles put his head on his hands and stared at the board in the front of the classroom. Algebra was awful, why did he have to do stuff like that?

Scott was sitting right next to him, taking notes. He knew what all that was about and actually understood what the teacher was talking about. Miles, on the other hand, had no idea.

With his pencil, Miles poked Scott's arm, until Scott turned his head to look at him questioningly: "What?"

"Entertain me", Miles pouted and made a pleading face. Scott smiled, but then continued writing.

Miles sighed and began doodling on a piece of paper, trying to shut out the  boring voice of their teacher.

Eventually, he pushed his paper over Scott's sheet and Scott frowned: "Tic Tac Toe?"

Miles shrugged: "I'm dying because I'm so bored ..."

Scott rolled his eyes, but agreed to playing.

After three rounds, he quietly asked: "So how did last night go?"

Miles hesitated: "Um, everything went well ..."

"Isn't that dangerous?"

"Don't worry, I've been doing this my whole life and my family's always with me", Miles reassured him.

"Mhm", Scott just muttered and was silent for a while, until he began: "And why ... I mean, how can you ..."

He stopped and Miles frowned: "What?"

Scott shook his head: "Forget about it."

"Come on, tell me", Miles insisted, but Scott shook his head: "No,it's nothing."

Miles looked at him for a moment, then he sighed: "I'm sorry."

Scott gave him a surprised look: "For what?"

"That you have to deal with your boyfriend being a vampire hunter ..."

Scott just scoffed, when Miles suddenly remembered: "Hey, but you said you knew it, even before what happened at the club ..."

Scott avoided looking at him: "Not about you being a hunter ..."

"But about vampires."

He shrugged, but Miles wanted to know this: "How?"

Again, Scott shrugged, so Miles gently nudged his shoulder: "Tell me."

"It doesn't matter", Scott hissed, when suddenly the teacher was standing in front of their desk: "Would you two please shut up?"

They quickly focussed on their desks and the teacher went back to the front. After this, they stayed quiet for the rest of the lesson.

When the bell rang, Nate was already waiting for them in front of their classroom, so Miles could not ask Scott how he knew about vampires again.

But during lunch time, Nate went away with Gwen, so Scott and Miles were alone. But just when Miles was about to ask, Larissa walked past them and Scott nodded in her direction: "And who is she?"

Miles smirked: "Are you jealous?"

Scott playfully hit his arm and Miles laughed: "Calm down, I saved her from some vampires, once."

Scott seemed surprised: "Really?"

Miles nodded: "Yeah, in the Central Park, a few weeks ago."

"So...", Scott was fidgeting with the lock of his locker, "she knows about vampires now?"

"No", Miles shook his head, "she thinks they were some kind of gang members or something like that."

Scott just nodded, taking books out of his locker and putting them in his bag, so Miles eventually asked: "Were you attacked? Is that how you know about vampires?"

Scott stopped moving: "No ... I don't want to talk about it."

"Hey, please just tell me", Miles begged, but Scott now looked at him angrily: "Just stop asking me that!"

With that, he slammed shut his locker and rushed off.

Miles sighed, looking after him.

There were no other opportunities to ask about this so soon, but Miles was determined not to let this go so easily. One day he would find out.
