11. Life Is Life. Even If It's Short.

Was that all? No. I still had one thing to do in the main house. I turned around.

It was time to visit Akito.

>>Kismaes POV<<

It had been a while since I last saw Akito. The last visit had ended horribly, but that wasn't just my fault. Was it?

No. It definitely wasn't. Akito was turning cruel. Unnecessarily so. All this with Tohru... Not that I liked her, but I could see that she made everyone happy. Yuki who always looked so glum, Kyo who was always full of hate, and Shigure, even though it isn't apparent he too felt trapped. Trapped and hopeless at seeing children giving up hope and being chained to the curse from the moment they were born.

The children of the zodiac, fated to serve the god, and fulfill their role until they died and another child was born to take their place.

My steps were long and purposeful. I knew where I was going. If I went in the normal way I would be stopped, and Akito would have a chance to prepare himself. That wasn't a luxury he deserved at the moment.

I jumped over the fence to Akitos garden. I knew it well. Small, with beautiful flowers and plants. Lined with trees, butterflies and that bird of Akitos. An elegant creature with shining white feathers for a coat. I heard it now. The song of a bird.

I moved a few branches and saw him. He was sitting by the sliding door as usual, looking sickly. I could hear an occasional cough or sneeze. Yes, definitely sick. The bird was sitting in front of Akito. A contrast to the black, silky, curtain of Akitos hair.

I cleared my throat harshly and waited. Akito looked up and looked surprised at my sudden appearance.

"Kismae. What can I do for you?" He asked. His voice was cold. "I thought you made it clear that you didn't want to see me." It was clear he was hurt. Maybe not to a normal person, but to me... He could have had a neon sign above his head.

"My guess is that you changed your mind. Hatori didn't say anything about erasing that girls memories." I answered.

"I did not push for them to make an appointment if that's what you mean." Akito said. He was still very cautious.

"Why do you do this Akito? I understand why you wouldn't want Tohru around you. She's so dumb I could put her in a box and ask her to find her way out, and she wouldn't be able to. But why are you pushing everyone else away. The zodiac are there." I knew my expression was sad.

"They're not. If they weren't forced to be here they would never stay. They're all just waiting for me to die, just like everybody else. Including my beloved Mother."

"If you weren't such an asshole to them, maybe they would like you more. Ever considered that?" I knew I was taunting him and I hoped he would take the bait. But what I saw shocked me.

The pure sadness on Akitos face was heartbreaking. Especially if you knew him. He was usually so cold and untouchable.

"I know that. I really do know that. It's not that easy to change behaviour patterns. Besides. I'm going to die in a few years. No point in making people like me. Then they'll be sad when I go." Akito said.

"They'd get over it. But I think you should let people love you a little. I know I did." I smiled sadly. I stepped forward and looked Akito in the eye. They were just as dark as I remembered. "It won't be easy when you go. But you should be happy while you can. Life is life. And you have to cherish every minute."

That was the first time in years I'd seen Akito smile.

A/N: Okay. So. This time I gave you a bit of a longer chapter to make up for the hiatus. What do you think this far? Shoutout to bibbitybobbityboo22
and hight45 (who's apparently the name cousin of my OC).

Gotta say that I love Kismae. Even if I have some trouble with the plot. Is the romance moving too slow? Too quick? Let me know in the comment section.

So yeah. Sorry for not updating. Cya around. Remember, your comments give me life.

Peace out!
