Remus and Sirius didn't talk for the rest of the day, but at least they weren't arguing. James and Peter didn't pry into what happened at breakfast, but both of them were curious.

That evening was quiet. There were a few people playing board games, some chatting by the fire and the boys completing homework on the velvet sofa. Most of the dorm had drifted off to their rooms by midnight but the Marauders and some sixth and seven years were dotted around on the various chairs.

Eventually, people went to their beds, still chatting about the day's infamous prank. Remus was still scribbling away when Peter stood up and announced he was off to bed.

"I think I'm going to hit the hay too," said James, standing up and stretching. He picked up his work and waved good bye to the two that were left, hoping they would figure things out on their own.

Remus continued to write, even though he was sure he was making things up by now. He was only trying to avoid speaking. Sirius pretended to be interested in the textbook. This carried on for a little while, before Sirius finally put the book down on the coffee table.

"This is bullshit. I'm sorry for ignoring you and I'm sorry for this morning."

Remus placed his quill and paper down gingerly, and looked at Sirius. "No, this morning was my fault, I'm sorry for the way I acted. I didn't mean what I said I was just... confused."

"About last night?" Sirius asked, looking down and playing with the ring on his finger. It was a nervous habit, and he was anxious.

"Yeah - what did it mean to you Sirius?"

There was a pause after this question. Sirius wasn't sure what to say. He must have liked it to kiss him back, but he hadn't thought about feelings for Remus. He didn't know what it meant to him.

"I don't know," he whispered, ashamed that he couldn't give Remus a good answer.

"That's okay, I know you like Marlene anyway," Remus murmured, beginning to get up from the sofa.

"What? No! We just flirt as a joke - it's a mutual thing, I think."

"You think? That's questionable," Remus said, sitting back down.

"Remus look, I don't know how to say it, but I have feelings for you and I just don't know what to do," Sirius said, his tone suddenly more serious than before.

"Sirius that's okay," Remus said, getting closer to him to give him a hug. Sirius sank into his arms, Remus twirling a strand of Sirius' long hair around his fingers.

Sirius sat up and cupped Remus' face in his hands. They both leaned in.

This kiss was somehow different. It was less rushed, and less adrenaline fuelled. It was slow, and soft. Remus pulled Sirius' collar so that he was sat on his lap and the kiss built up. Sirius tugged at the hem of Remus' shirt and pulled it off, exposing his chest covered in faded scars and bruises. Sirius broke the kiss to pull his own shirt off and continued the kiss more passionately.

Sirius tugged at Remus' belt while Remus wondered where this was going, when they heard footsteps from the girls dorm. They both leapt off each other, Remus fumbling for his shirt and pulling it over his head.

Lily Evans wandered down the stairs, hair tied up in a messy bun, wearing chequered pyjama bottoms and a large, grey t-shirt. She raised her eyebrow at the pair sat on the sofa.

"You two still up?" She asked, wandering over to her flask and book she left on the table. "Can't sleep without my book and tea."

Remus smiled and nodded in agreement. It was just his luck for someone to walk downstairs when he was finally having his moment with Sirius. Although, he had no idea what it would escalate to if Lily hadn't come down.
