Remus was stood in the middle of a dark forest. He was all alone. The moon was out, but he wasn't changing. He reached for his wand but couldn't find it. There was no sound except the rustling of nearby leaves. Then he heard crying. He hesitated before following the noise.
He pushed his way through the dense leaves and clung to trees as he tried not to fall over. The crying was louder now, and the sun was beginning to rise. As he neared the crying noise, he was able to peak between two large trees and see a body lying on the floor. It didn't look human, it was big and grey, lying on the hard forest floor with blood slowly trickling from it. Remus squinted into the darkness to try and get a better look. He wished he had his wand to create a light source.
There was a human sat in-front of the creature, crying and whimpering. The human turned around and that's when he saw the face of Sirius. His cheeks were tear-stained and his lips were wobbling. He was calling for help but no-one was coming. Remus stepped out from the shadows and Sirius looked directly at him, but didn't see him. "I'm here," said Remus, walking over to Sirius, ready to comfort him. But Sirius only cried and called out for help once more.
Sirius couldn't see him. Remus walked around Sirius to see what had been hurt. That was when he realised that it was a werewolf. There were several slashes across it's body, all oozing blood. He was going to be sick. The wolf's eyes were fluttering, it was drifting in and out of consciousness. "I'm so sorry Remus. How could I let this happen to you?" muttered Sirius, stroking the werewolf gently.
"Sirius you didn't do anything," Remus whispered, reaching out to comfort him. His hand just drifted through Sirius' shoulder in a ghostly manner. Sirius was crying louder now.
"This is all my fault. It was all my fault you got hurt."
"No it isn't! I'm still here!" Remus yelled, but Sirius didn't move. "I love you Sirius! This isn't your fault!"
Then the wolf's eyes closed. It's shallow breaths stopped and the movement of it's chest halted. "Remus!" Sirius cried.
The scene began to turn to black, and Remus woke up.
The hospital wing looked dull and lonely. The only person there was Remus. His chest felt heavy and it stung every time he tried to move. Madame Pomfrey came over with a tray of juice, two sickly looking potions and a biscuit. "Morning Mr Lupin," she said, plonking the tray down on the bedside table.
"Morning," Remus croaked. Everything ached.
"You got yourself into quite a pickle last night. I found you with an arrow stuck in your chest," she said, unplugging on of the potion bottles.
Remus remembered last night, and then he remembered the dream. "Take a swig of this," she said, lifting him up and passing him the bottle. He grimaced; the concoction was a murky brown colour. "It'll heal the remaining pain from your wound."
He took a mouthful and almost spat it out. It tasted like mud with a metallic hint. He screwed up his face and grabbed the orange juice from the table to rid the horrible aftertaste.
"Before I let your friends in, do you mind telling me what happened last night?" she continued, taking the brown potion out of his hand and replacing it with a green one.
Remus took a sip of the other potion, which had a thick, grimy texture. He shook his head. "I don't remember anything."
"Maybe someone got a lucky shot through the window. I'll have to have a word with Dumbledore," she said, biting her lip slightly.
Remus shuddered at the words 'lucky shot'. The centaur had used that phrase before he ran off. "I'll let your friends in now. Mr Black sounds like he's going to knock the door down."
Remus smiled gratefully and bit into his biscuit. The clock on the wall read 8 o'clock, so they would be on time for first lesson.
"Lupin!" James yelled, before jumping onto his bed. "It's been a long night without you pal!"
They shared a look. James leant down and whispered, "How's the arrow wound?"
"Fully healed," Remus whispered back, as Sirius and Peter ran in.
"I bought you a blueberry muffin," Sirius said, tossing him it. "I know you like them ones."
Remus smiled at him. "Thank you Sirius."
He winked. Remus hated when he did that.

The day went on with no discussion about the previous night. Remus had lived, and the boys were careless as long as nothing awful happened. But Sirius thought it was awful, and he blamed it on himself. He didn't tell any of his friends that, but he carried the guilt around all day. He had asked Remus if they could have their first tutoring session that night.
They arrived at the library at seven. James had given them a special permission (basically a piece of paper signed by the head boy) to stay in the library after hours if necessary. They found a secluded part of the library and got to work. Although, after half an hour, Sirius was already complaining.
"What even is a cacophony?" Sirius said, holding his head in his hands.
"Basically just a loud, annoying noise," Remus said, not looking up from the textbook he was flicking through. "It's a word to describe you talking."
"Oi! I am not loud and annoying," Sirius said, slamming the textbook shut.
"The librarian probably thinks otherwise, " Remus said, looking at Sirius with a playful smile.
"I am one of a kind Moony."
"You certainly are," said Remus, shaking his head.
They sat quiet for a minute, just looking at each other. Sirius' expression suddenly became guilt ridden and sad.
"Moony, I'm sorry for what happened last night," he said.
Remus looked around to check no-one could hear, but there were no students in that part of the library. "What happened was not your fault Sirius," Remus said, staring at him intently.
"But I'm the one who picks the lock, so technically it is my fault."
Remus laughed. "Sirius, that's just your part of the deal. I don't have to bring you guys along! But I do anyway, because it makes it bearable."
Sirius had a small smile but still looked glum. "I could have prevented it."
Remus leaned forward and put his hand on top of Sirius'. He looked taken back, but allowed it anyway. Sirius probably saw it as a friendly gesture, which hurt Remus a little.
"Sirius I'm the one who got shot and I don't blame you. None of us could have prevented it, and it's alright now anyway because I'm all healed up."
He rubbed the top of Sirius' hand gently and smiled. Sirius looked up at him. There was a moment of silence between the two. Remus was about to get up and do something unexpected. Nobody would see. All he had to do was stand up and lean forward. But how would Sirius react?
He never found out though, because James walked around the bookshelf. "How are you two lovebirds getting on then?"
Remus' heart almost stopped in surprise and he took his hand away from Sirius'. Sirius took his hands away from the table. Remus' heart sank. He was so close.
"I think I'm going to need a few more lessons," said Sirius. He turned and looked at Remus again, smirking. Remus hoped James didn't see the smirk, or his small blush.
