The two raced back to the Gryffindor dorms. They couldn't act on their plan until the night, and even then they had to be quick. They needed to hide the brooms and find the drugs. The discussion with Effie and Cassie had shocked Remus. There was too much information to handle.

From what he could gather, Sirius had seen Effie high before. Was Sirius still hooked on drugs? He looked like he knew her well. Had they gotten high together before? Had he slept with her? He had a threesome in the Ravenclaw commons in October. How many times had he done that? How many girls had he slept with?

As Remus walked next to him, he suddenly felt unimportant. He felt like nothing matters to Sirius, especially not him. If he used girls all the time, Remus probably meant nothing to him either.

The Gryffindor commons were lively as usual. Everybody had just had their dinner. Remus was hungry, and he thought about raiding Peter's secret stash before they left that night. James and Peter were playing rummy with a group of sixth years on the coffee table. Lily and Marlene were painting each others toe nails on the sofa while talking to the boys and gossiping with each other.

James looked up from his cards and made eye contact with the two boys. Instead of snarling or looking away, like Sirius expected, his face lit up. "Guys! Where have you been?"

Wow, he was good at pretending things never happened, Remus thought.

"We were at the library getting some books for that essay."

"Yeah, you know the astronomy essay," Sirius said, smiling like James was.

"Ah, I'm glad I dropped that subject. Couldn't be arsed to talk about planets all day to be honest."

"Me neither, thought it was a load of bullshit to be honest," Peter said throwing down his cards. "Rummy, by the way."

"God sake! All I needed was the four of hearts! Which one of you bastards had that four?

"Right we're gonna go get changed and we'll join you for another round, yeah?" Sirius said,  walking towards the staircase.

"You bitches better be ready," James said, fist bumping Peter.

The pair jogged up the stairs into their room. Remus pulled some clothes out of the wardrobe while Sirius picked up a crumpled shirt up off the floor. "How long have you been getting high with Effie?" Remus asked, unbuttoning his school shirt.

Sirius paused, taking off his own shirt. "What makes you say that?"

Remus turned to him. "You asked if she was high again - you obviously knew shit about her."

Sirius was now hunting for a pair of jeans. He looked under his bed. "I'm not getting high with her," he said defiantly, not looking Remus in the eye.

"You're lying to me."

"No, you think I'm lying to you,"

"Where do you sneak off every night?" Remus asked. Sirius stopped and looked at him.

"What do you mean?" he asked flatly.

"Late at night. When I wake up, you're sometimes - actually most of the time, not in your bed. I don't know where you go."

"Fine, alright, sometimes I sneak off to see Effie or someone else."

"Who else do you go see? Who else do you go do drugs with, or drink with, or fuck or seek around?"

"Woah, where is all this coming from?"

"What am I to you Sirius? Am another one that you just sleep with and ignore? Do I matter to you at all?"
