Madi lived in a room right next to Clarkes. The past year since Bellamy had left, Clarke had barley smiled. Being in charge was her main priority. Polis was thriving. Clarke was in her room reading letters from different grounders before Raven entered with Madi.
Madi was still clumsy, she barley got the hang of walking. Raven was holding one of her hands walking in slowly. Clarke stood up, "Well hello." She still wasn't smiling. Madi started giggling. She had dark hair and blue eyes. She had freckles across her face that Raven would always try to count. Raven let go of Madis hand who then ran to Clarke. She started tugging on Clarkes pants. Clarke looked down and starred at her.
"You can affectionate sometimes, Clarke." Raven walked to  Madi and picked her up.
Clarke shook her head. "She's getting older now, I don't want her thinking I'm her..." Clarke looked down. Raven was in charge of of the lab and being the head doctor. She never really got free time, but when she did it was with Madi. "Also, no one uses my name. It's just commander."
Raven frowned then nodded. She looked at the letters on Clarkes desk. "Any word from Octavia?" Raven asked. Clarke shook her head. "She'll come around." Raven replied. Ravens walkie went off on her belt. "I have to go, here take Madi." Raven started to teach to Clarke, but then Clarke backed away. "Fine." Raven placed Madi on the floor. "Watch her at least."
Raven left the room. Clarke was reading more letters before Madi started poking her. Clarke looked at Madi. Madi smiled. "Up. Up!" Clarke rolled her eyes and placed Madi on her lap.
Clarke started to think. "Hey Madi, What's my name?" Madi shrugged. "Commander." Clarke said slowly infront of her. Madi tried saying it, but it wouldn't come out right. Clarke looked around, she saw Lexas journal on a shelf. "Heda." Clarke said again.
Sure enough, Madi was able to say "Heda." Clarke laughed. Madi grabbed Clarkes finger with her small hands. Raven walked in seeing Clarke laughing with Madi.
Raven stayed quiet watching them, tearing up. Clarke noticed her watching then put Madi back down. "What do you know?" Raven said. "She can smile." Suddenly there was a noise coming from the sky. Clarke and raven rushed to the window. "Vaccine deliveries!" Raven smiled.
Clarke left Madi with her maid. Clarke, Raven , Kane and other guards went to in the woods to find the package. They reached the cargo. The general guard, miller, asked, "Commander, permission to open?"
Clarke stared at the medal container, "yes sir." The guards opened the package to bottles of a dark liquid. Raven picked on up and observed it.
"They did it!" She laughed. "They did it!" Raven said it again, but this time with tears. Clarkes eyes filled up with tears, but she quickly wiped them off her face.
Clarke looked up. "Thank you." She whispered. There were only 100 doses. About a third of the people who worked in the tower got a vaccine. Including Clarke, Raven, Madi and Kane.
Madi was now five years old and was as energetic as ever. In Clarkes room, Raven was putting together a toy car for Madi. Clarke was going through shelf's. Madi was running around, than stopped at the window. She looked out. "I want to go outside." She said.
Clarke looked up immediately, she walked to Madi and bent down to be eye level. "You can not go outside. It's dangerous." Madi looked confused. "Very bad guys out there, you stay here where we protect you." Madi nodded.
Clarkes maid entered the room asking Clarke if Madi needed to eat. Her maid took Madi to the dining hall. "Clarke, you need to let her have some information." Raven said while sitting down.
Clarke turned around from the window. "Raven she is five, way to young to know anything. No one outside of the tower knows she's my daughter or even that there is a child living here, and if someone finds out and.." Clarke walked up to Raven with tears in her eyes. "She is all I have left of him."
Raven stood up. "Do you hear yourself?" Raven shouted. "Keeping a little girls life a secret, not telling her what even a mom or dad is!" Raven looked disappointed.
"He's gone Raven! He's gone! Her dad is gone! Gone!" Clarke screamed.
There was a moment of silence. Clarke turned around, but Raven started to talk again. "You can't even say his name." Clarke turned back around. "Your broken. Your going to break Madi too." Clarke was furious she ran up and slapped Raven.
"Do not talk about my daughter!" Clarke then pushed Raven against the wall screaming in her face. "Do not talk about her father and do not talk about me!" Clarke let go of Raven. Clarke sat on her bed and started crying in her hands.
Raven stared at her. "I'm sorry." She said softly. Raven stayed there until Clarke got up. The two looked at eachother. "I'm sorry Clarke, it's just." Raven started to tear, " You and Madi are the only ones I have left." Raven shrugged.
Clarke stepped closer, than Raven hugged Clarke. Raven left back to the lab and Clarke finished going through stuff. Clarke noticed something shiny in the very back of a shelf. She reached all the way and picked it up. It was Bellamys knife, the one she took before they went to Arkadia together. She gently rubbed her fingers across it, than hugged it. "Together." She whispered.
Two years later, there was no more signs of Azgeda, anywhere. Polis was cheerful and worshiped Clarke. Deliveries came every year. Clarke was teaching Madi how to read when guards entered. "Commander." The general said.
Clarke stood up. "Is there a problem general?" Clarke walked infront of Madi.
"We went to go get the cargo for the vaccines, when we arrived, it was already open." He replied.
Clarke thought about Octavia. She looked at the two guards behind him, "Can someone please call Raven up here?" One guard nodded and walked out the room reaching for his walkie. "How many were taken?"
"3 ma'am" the general answered. Clarke nodded.
"Thank you. You may leave." The guards left and Raven came in. "Someone took vaccines from the woods this morning." Clarke told Raven. "It could be Octavia."
Raven sighed. "Clarke, she's been gone for 7 years, if she wanted to be with us she would come here. You need to stop worrying about her."
"But they took three Raven! What if they had a baby?" Clarke glanced at Madi. Raven shook her head.
When Madi teacher eight, she was highly mature for her age. She would always ask questions, which Clarke would deny majority of the time. Raven was always tempted to answer some.
Madi was reading when Clarke entered her room. "Good morning Heda." She greeted.
"I'm just checking if your ok." Clarke was about to leave.
"Heda, I have a question." Madi suggested.
Clarke rolled her eyes. "I told you about asking questions."
"I know it's just." Madi said, "who are my mommy and daddy?"
Clarke was shocked. "How do you know...what...Raven?"
Madi ran to Clarke tugging on her arms. "Please don't be mad at Raven." Clarke kneeled down to Madi. She was getting to like Bellamy more and more.
Clarke took a deep breath, "follow me." Clarke lead Madi into her room where Clarke went to her shelf. She grabbed a box. "This is very special." Madi smiled sitting on Clarkes bed. Clarke sat next to her. "This belonged to your father." Clarke opened the box, pulling out the knife.
"A knife?" Madi asked reaching out. Clarke pulled it back towards her.
"Yes, but Madi it's very important and you cannot loose it." Clarke demanded, Madi shook her head. Clarke handed her the knife. Madi smiled from ear to ear.
"What was his name? Where is he? My mom?" Madi jumped.
Clarke snapped, "Your too young to know that stuff." Clarke got up from the bed. "Cherish that until your old enough." Madi nodded. "Now go in your room."
Madi got up and started walking with the knife in her hands. She turned back around to Clarke. "Thank you Heda." Madi smiled.
Clarke looked at the knife, giving a deep breath, "your welcome."
