Percy looked at the Hunter's camp from the tree he sat in. He really didn't want to go in at all, but his fatal flaw would not allow him to stay away too long. And his best friend would skin him alive if he did not make amends. Still...dealing with HER was difficult. Artemis never listened.
"Hey...do you guys feel that?" a Hunter asked.
"Feel what?"
"It feels like someone is watching us," the first, Amanda, replied.
"Now that you mention it, I can feel it too."
The youngest, and of the newest of the bunch looked at the surrounding woods with wide eyes. "You don't think it's a monster do you?"
"No, it would give off a different aura. And most wouldn't hold back seeing as most of the Hunt is out doing various tasks. It would think we are easy prey."
"Could it be a mortal?"
"Doubtful. Few can see through the Mist and we set up a perimeter. We would have known if someone got close. The only thing I could think of is a god."
Artemis walked out of her tent and caught the tail end of the conversation. "You mean, there's a god watching us?" she asked, while broadening her senses.
She could feel the presence, but they were hiding and concealing themselves very well. But they were not giving off a godly aura. A powerful aura yes, but not like that of a god. "Perseus!"
He looked up from where he was hidden. Stepping out of hiding, he gave a small smile. "Yeah, it's me."
Artemis continued to stare, her face becoming more and more golden. "Yeah?! That's all you can say after you just left!? You come in, kill some crazy person, we watch you absorb them, and then you leave. But no, all you have to say for yourself is, yeah?!"
Percy's eyes widened. He didn't think she'd be so mad. He was just a male after all, yes her husband by contract, but they would never even dream of consummating the marriage. That would in turn lead to it dissolving in a years time. Its already been close to four.
"Uh..." was all he got out before she slugged him in the face and followed it up with a kick to the stomach. He groaned, but got up, the pain fading fast. This was nothing, even at her full godly strength it wouldn't take more than a minute for him to be able to ignore the pain.
"What the Hades was that for?!" he yelled.
"You left without a word. No messages, no updates. Then, someone hears about a powerful being leading kids to camp, again, but this time accompanied by a female! Luckily I knew what you had planned to do, but still!" she shouted back.
Percy looked at her dumbfounded. He had no idea what was going on. His eyes slowly widened as he caught on. "You were jealous. But why?"
"I was not–" she paused. "Okay, maybe I was, but you're married to me! I don't want to have placed my trust in anther of my Uncle's children only to be betrayed again because of one of my huntress'."
Percy sighed. "Artemis. That's not who I am. I wouldn't do something like that. Yes, Zoë is one of my sources, but she's like a best friend if not a sister to me. There are no romantic feelings between us, nor any of that kind of intimacy.
"I knew getting married to you would mean that I could never have a real relationship, love, and kids of my own. I mean, you are the world famous man-hating goddess, and sworn to celibacy."
"You're wrong."
Percy's brows scrunched. "Wrong? About what?"
"All of it. I don't hate men. I hate that for centuries if not millennia that they have put women down. And I'm not sworn to celibacy. Hestia, Athena, and I never swore on the Styx. We just said we wished to remain chaste."
