Adrienne ducked two akumas and slammed a third with her staff. Cursing to herself, she leaped to a different rooftop. As she prepared for another jump, her staff beeped. She pressed the paw print and found her partner calling her.

"Noire? What's going on?" he asked worriedly.

"No clue," Adrienne panted as she made a third leap. "A lot of people must have been mad today."

"But what's causing this? I mean, people get mad all the time. Hawk Moth's never akumatized this many of them."

Adrienne gasped as she spotted a familiar face among the akumas.

"Ladybeetle! I just saw Stormy Weather!" she said, shocked.

"That shouldn't be possible! Hold on, we've got to get the others on this!"

The screen split; each corner held one of her masked friends.

"Beetle, Noire, Bee. Carapace and I just encountered Darkblade and Evillustrator," Alyo said from the top right corner of the screen.

"I swear I saw Timebreaker on the streets," Corey said. He was below Alyo on the screen.

"I have eyes on Stormy Weather," Adrienne said. "And I think that's Riposte."

"I think that's Befana over by the bakery," Marin said. "Why is this happening? This sort of thing hasn't occurred since fighting Puppeteer."

Adrienne shuddered. "Don't remind me. Anyone else look familiar?"

"Yeah," Nina said from the bottom left screen quadrant. "Pixelator. On the streets near the mayor's hotel."

"Robostus too," Marin added. "Just passed a vending machine trying to attack someone."

Adrienne groaned.

"Well, we've got to fight," she said. "Call if anything changes."

"Gotcha," Marin responded, ending the call.

Adrienne spun around and hit an akuma with her staff, narrowly escaping a swipe from Riposte. Twirling her staff as a shield, she charged towards the unfamiliar akuma and hit him off the roof with a hard blow. She ducked a blast of lightning from Stormy Weather and was whirling away when she spotted something. A tall, dark figure running along rooftops. A figure that certainly wasn't one of her friends.

Hawk Moth.

Adrienne hurdled over the gaps between the rooftops, focused single-mindedly on the villain who had dared to akumatize her. She saw Hawk Moth change course as she spotted Adrienne. Both raised their staffs as they charged.

With a loud clang,  the staffs collided. Adrienne dropped low and swung her feet at Hawk Moth's ankles. The villain leapt back up, ducked a swing from Adrienne's staff, and kicked the hero in the chest. Adrienne stumbled back but managed to parry three more blows before thrusting the staff forwards. Hawk Moth knocked it aside with her own staff, but perhaps she sensed that Adrienne would not give up easily. She turned and jumped, jumped so far Adrienne thought for a moment she was flying. The villain landed several buildings away, continuing on towards a place Adrienne knew well.

The Eiffel Tower. The heroes' meeting place.

Groaning, Adrienne ran after her.

*****Marin*****

Marin dodged a shot from Befana and jumped as her fairies swooped at him. Hooking his yo-yo around a person turned to coal, he swung around and kicked her hard with both feet. Not bothering to hang around, he pulled himself onto a rooftop and found himself face-to-face with his best friend.

"Volpine!" he said, relieved.

"Ladybeetle," Alyo greeted him. His face was grim. "We've got to get away before they get us."

"What?"

"They got Carapace a few blocks back. They're restraining her, but as far as I know they haven't removed her bracelet yet. Same status for King Bee--still has his miraculous, but he's restrained. Duck."

Marin ducked; Alyo swung his reed flute over Marin's head and hit a fairy behind him.

"I bet Hawk Moth wants to remove them herself," Marin said bitterly. "Not while I'm alive--"

He froze. Two figures were leaping across rooftops towards the Eiffel Tower. One was Adrienne. The other was Hawk Moth.

He stayed still a moment too long: three fairies seized him and held him tightly. Judging by Alyo's cry of shock, he had been seized too. Marin turned his head to see none other than Evillustrator. He quickly sketched something on his tablet. A large cage suddenly entrapped Alyo. A second captured Marin.

"Oh no," he muttered.

He tightly grasped the bars, watching his partner in the distance.

"Good luck, Chat Noire," he whispered.

Don't worry, it doesn't end here! Adrienne will catch up soon...

...but can she really defeat Hawk Moth?
