The next day, Nina arrived at the bakery before anybody else (except Marin, of course), so she bought a croissant from Marin's father Tom and munched on it outside. Alyo arrived next. They went into the bakery to find Marin waiting for them. The three sat at a table for twenty minutes, waiting for Adrienne. Soon enough, though, they realized that if they waited any longer they would be late for the concert. Nina went outside to call Adrienne, but stopped.
Running along the rooftops was a very familiar figure. Squinting, Nina realized who it was: Chat Noire...but something was up. She was too far away to see the hero clearly, but as Chat Noire neared the bakery, she noticed it. Chat Noire's suit was white.
Nina dashed inside.
"Guys! I think Chat Noire's been akumatized!" she shouted.
"Impossible," Alyo said, standing. "How can you tell?"
"I saw her running on the rooftops. I thought she was on a mission, but her suit's turned white and she looks all angry...."
"I've got to see this," Alyo muttered, dashing outside. Marin muttered something about the bathroom. Nina exited the bakery and ducked behind a tree. Wayzz zoomed out of her bag.
"Chat Noire akumatized?" he said worriedly. "Something's up."
"Definitely. Transform me!"
Now Carapace, Nina ran out into the street and almost crashed into Volpine.
"Carapace!" Volpine looked relieved. "I was about to call you! Chat Noire's been akumatized, but neither Ladybug nor King Bee has arrived yet."
Nina tried to look as though this was news to her. Luckily, Volpine was distracted by Ladybug swooping down from atop the bakery.
"So," Nina said when he landed. "Did you decide? Ladybeetle, Lordbug, or just Bug?"
"Um...Ladybeetle, I guess," he answered, shrugging.
"All right, Ladybeetle, where's King Bee?"
Ladybeetle slid his yo-yo open and dialed King Bee's trompo. A moment later, King Bee's face appeared.
"What's this about?" he asked.
"We need you here asap, Bee," Ladybeetle said. "Noire's been akumatized."
"What?!"
"I don't want to believe it either. Look, just get over here." Ladybeetle slid the yo-yo shut. A moment later, King Bee dashed around the corner.
"Saw Noire by the school," he said. "It looked like she was headed over to the Agreste mansion."
"Surely not!" Ladybeetle exclaimed.
"We've got to get over there," Nina stated.
"But why would she go over there?" Volpine wondered aloud.
*****Adrienne*****
Adrienne dashed along the rooftops. Soon she would reach Agreste Mansion, where she could get to Nathalie, and then to Gabriella--
No! Hawkmoth's voice hissed. You will not attack Agreste Mansion!
"What's to stop me? Do you even know why you akumatized me?" Adrienne growled.
As she finished saying it, a sudden rush of pain shot up her right arm.
It is not your job to question me! You will not attack the mansion!
"All right!" she whisper-shouted. "I'll leave Agreste Mansion alone!"
"Chat Noire?"
Adrienne stopped. It was a civilian. Completely harmless.
"Why is your suit all white?" the man asked.
You are no longer Chat Noir! You are Chat Blanc! Hawkmoth said. You will take over Paris for me!
But instead of caving to Hawkmoth and telling the man she was akumatized, she turned and ran. She ran all the way to the Eiffel Tower and climbed up to the lowest platform.
What are you doing, idiot?!
"Doing what I want," Adrienne muttered through gritted teeth.
More pain in her right arm. She bit her tongue to stop the gasp of pain.
One more rebellious act and I will take your powers! You shall be returned to the nobody you were before me!
"And that's where you're wrong," Adrienne said.
What?
Ladybug swung onto the platform. He stopped when he saw her. Adrienne smiled.
"I'm not a nobody that you akumatized. Why do you think it was my ring that the akuma entered? Come on, Hawkmoth, put it together."
Wait. What--
With a burst of willpower, Adrienne pulled her ring off of her finger. Looking her hero partner right in the eye, she dropped the ring and smashed it with her foot.
Ladybug caught the akuma in his yo-yo and set the harmless butterfly free. Adrienne felt a surge of weakness and she bent over for a moment, dizzy. Ladybug ran over to her.
"Ladybug," she said gratefully.
"Nope. Ladybeetle now. Come on, Noire, let's get you out of he--"
Adrienne lifted her head. Ladybeetle had finally recognized her.
"Wait," he said. "You're not Chat Noire. You're Adrienne Agreste. You cosplay as Chat Noire, and you got akumatized?"
"Give me the ring," she ordered, purposely ignoring the question. He slid it over. She stood up.
"What are you doing?" he said warily.
"Claws out!" Adrienne shouted, transforming into Chat Noire.
"Wait--what--Adrienne, you're--you're Noire--" Ladybeetle stammered. "But--but I thought--"
"Sorry to disappoint, Ladybeetle," she said, and she passed out.

She remembered who she was during her brief akumatization (is that a word?) and was able to resist Hawkmoth, defeating herself by smashing her ring. She also seemed to remember that she had been akumatized...but will that last?
Yes, of course I know the answers to all this. I'm the author, after all. The question is...do you?
