Guilliana's POV

"Who the hell are you?! " the cashier shouted at the owner of the voice. It was a cacuasian man. He looked to be in his early twenties. Dark brown hair. Dark brown eyes. Well put together.

"Why are you raising your voice at her? ", he asked the man sternly. I didn't know who he was or why he was sticking up for me but I appreciated it.

"She needs to get the HELL OUT-"

"YO WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE. That's not how you speak to women", then he turned to me softening his voice, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine", I say awkwardly standing there. I didn't want to be around this much attention so I hurry past the stranger and make a break for the door. I can hear him call after me but I vacate the store regardless. I didn't want to interact with anyone past what I had to. I hear the door jingle as he tries to race after me. I'm nearly at the curb of the street when his arm reaches out to touch mine from behind. In favor of his resilience I turn around harshly to face him.

"What do you want? ", I spit out. I hated being rude to him because he just helped me but I have to build up a wall in order to make sure no one got in. Not to mention I looked like a hot mess and wanted to keep human interaction to a minimum.

"Can you tell me what that was about back there?", he asked. The least I could do was answer.

"Look I asked him where I could find the nearest motel and he flipped on me"

"Wow he was being a dick"

"Yeah and now if you don't mind I'll be walking away",  I reply as I prepare my body to walk away.

"Wait do you know where the motel is? ", he asked. Why was it so much work to find a motel around here?

"No"

"Well there's one a couple blocks away I can take you", he responded politely. That was a big no. What the hell did I look like taking a ride from a stranger.

"No thanks", I say and go back in route to walking along the road. I guess he finally gave up as he didn't come after me anymore. Thank God. Now to just get to the motel and lay-.

Honk Honk

My thoughts were interrupted by a car honk and when I turn around to face the car I can see that the owner is the dark haired stranger from the gas station.

"Please just let me help you", he proclaims through the driver side window he had lowered. Just ignore him Guiliana and he'll go away.

"The wild life out here is crazy. You wouldn't want to get hit by a rampant deer", he shouts, his car matching my pace. "Rampant deer?" He had a point. I hated wildlife and I'd rather get kidnapped again than have to be presented that situation and to be fair he didn't look capable of kidnapping someone,  so I crossed the street and entered the man's BMW through the passenger side.

"I'm glad you-"

"Please don't talk to me", I interject. And as per my request, he fell silent. It was a bit harsh of me but considering my situation I didn't care. I also felt embarrassed. I looked like shit and probably smelled like it.

"If you don't mind me asking-"

"Well I do mind", I whisper just low enough so he doesn't hear me.

"What's your story? I mean you don't look like you're from around here", he finishes while stealing a glance at me.

"That's because I'm not"

"Ok what's your name?". I was about to reveal my name but I still myself. Remember. Low profile.

"Rose", I say. That was my mothers name and the first one to pop into my head.

"Well Rose, I'm Ethan and welcome to Jersey", he says with a smile. Gross. I roll my eyes and bring my attention to the window. I see the motel come into view and he pulls into the parking lot. It looked lowly but what could I expect from a motel.

"What happened to your face?", he asked. I had completely forgotten that the wounds I had suffered from being held hostage were still visible. All over my body. That makes sense as to why people were stealing glances at me everywhere I went. Why couldn't he just mind his business. We were parked in the motel parking lot and I could just leave without answering his question, but he was nice enough to help me out so I felt I owed it to him. Quick Giuliana think of something.

"I- uh", I hesitated. I couldn't think of anything to tell him. The truth wasn't an option.

"Did someone do that to y-"

"I got hit by a car", I blurt out. Really Guiliana? A car?!

"Oh my god are you ok do you need to go the hospital??", he asked worriedly.

"No I'm fine", I say brushing a strand of hair out of my face.

"You don't look fine and you got hit by a car that's a serious thing you need to get checked out, did the person just leave? We need to call the police", he replies. What is this dudes problem. Why can't he just drop it and let me leave?

"No. No police and I'm not going to the hospital", I demand.

"Well at least let me help you with your wounds you don't look to good".

"Yeah no thanks. Ok I'm leaving now thanks for the ride I guess", I say while I place my hand on the door handle.

"If you don't let me help you I'm gonna have to call the police", he tells me.

"Police are you kidding me?". He had to be joking.

"No I'm not. You don't want to help yourself and I can see that your body is banged up pretty badly". I had to give in, If he called the police they would see right through my false story and I'd be forced to tell them the truth and that was not gonna happen.

"Fine"

"I have some stuff back at my house to help you", he says as he pulls out of the parking lot.

"Wait what? ", I reply. What am I getting myself into. Going to his house didn't sound like the best idea. I was in a lot of pain though. My body was telling me to get help and I wasn't listening.

"Yes I'm going to take you to my house I have a first aid kit there. You know unless you want help from the police". I glare at him menacingly and he chuckles. I wanted to punch him. But instead I sat there silently cursing him out, as we started the drive to his house.
