Ever since Aaron became sick with the flu, you've pretty much taken his spot, Jay staying at nerve alone for the first time in a while for a few weeks. "How are you feeling?.." Zak asks you as he adjusts himself, making sure everything was in place. You shrug. "I'm alright.." he frowns but doesn't let you see that. "You know you can always stay here with Jay, I'm sure being one man down couldn't hurt.." You stand up, pushing your walkie further down your pocket. "Nah, I'll be perfectly fine.." you reach for the doorknob but Zak stops you, gently grabbing your shoudler. "Are you sure?..I don't want a repeat of last time.." you sigh, turning to look at him. "Even if there is a repeat, I'll be strong and it'll blow over..just like last time.." you flash him and warm reassuring smile before walking out, Zak hot on your heels.
Jay watches the monitor carefully as you, Zak, and Billy do an EVP session, taking notice that Billy looks confused. "Hey Billy you alright?.." Jay calls out to Billy through the walkie, he only looks up at the camera and shakes his head. Zak tells Billy to go back to nerve due to how uncomfortable he felt. Now it was only you and Zak. "Okay..y/n..I'm going to leave you h-" you stop him mid sentence. "You are not going to leave me here alone Bagans." you feel around for him and finally grab his forearm, giving it a squeeze. "Well I kind of have to..unless you want Jay to take your place.." you think for a moment, a long moment. You did not want to be left alone in this hotel alone, but you also didn't want Jay to suffer. What to do what to do.
Zak sits up in his seat, grabbing his walkie, glancing at Billy before speaking. "Are you doing okay so far y/n?.." You only look dead into one of the cameras, mouthing "you're dead" at Zak. He merely gives a sheepish look, forgetting that you can't see him. "Where to first?.." you ask out loud knowing the camera's audio would catch it. "Room 17." is all you heard from your walkie, unaware that'll be the last you hear from it. "14,15,16,17.." you sigh loudly as you reach the door, feeling a chill run up your spine. Zak notices your behavior and asks if you're alright, when he doesn't get a response he only brushes it off, thinking you were just ignoring him. Once inside the room you feel a large pocket of cold air before you, immediately feeling uneasy. Shaking it off you sit on a rocking chair that sat adjacent to the bed. Pulling out your digital recorder, Jay watches intensely as a dark figure stood behind you for a short moment then quickly vanished. Reaching for his walkie Zak stopped him. "Do not tell her. She will freak out."
You go over the EVP session you just did, listening as carefully as you can to the recording. A strong male voice grabs your attention quickly, making you gasp and hold up the recorder to the camera's microphone. "Right here." in a raspy deep voice is clearly heard. "Damn.." Billy mumbles rubbing his sweaty hands on his jeans. Zak starts to get nervous as he continues to watch. Just as you were about to pull out the spirit box, a wave of sadness and guilt hit you like a truck. Leaning forwards in the chair, you place your elbows on your knees, looking down at the floor feeling hot tears travel down your face at a snail's pace. "y/n y/n are you okay?.." Zak asks, getting even more worried because of your lack of a response. He sighs, seeing you look up from the floor, tears still falling. "Zak..please don't leave me alone anymore.." you laugh through the tears, the guys catching on. "I think we should-" Zak cuts Jay off. "She's strong, she can handle this.."
You leave room 17 and make your way to the bar downstairs. You sit on a stool and take out your spirit box, setting it on the seat next to you. You drum your fingers on the marble counter, waiting for any voices to come through. You were about to speak up but the spirit box beat you to it. "What are you doing." The same voice from earlier rang through your ears, and just like last time, a wave of emotions hit you hard. Except sadness was replaced with anger. You clench your fists tightly, punching the counter as you stand up. "What the fuck!" You yell, throwing the bar stool across the room. "Whoa whoa y/n calm down.." Billy walkies you, but you can't hear him. "Is this thing even working?.." he questions himself. "She's gonna lose her mind in there.." Zak stands up quickly, running down to the hotel to get you out. He finally reaches you, taking notice in you dead walkie on the floor as he walked up to you. He grabs your shoulder. "Hey.." you look up in the direction you hear his voice, reaching out to touch his chest. Once you feel it, you attack him. "This. Is. All. Your. Fault... I'm. Angry. For. No. Reason." you say, punching his chest with every word.
Zak knows you mean no harm and that you would never intentionally hurt him physically. This was not you he was talking to. "y/n calm down please.." he grabs your shoulders, gripping them tight enough for you to struggle to move your arms. "It's me y/n.." you start to calm down a bit, Zak loosening his grip and pulling you out and away from the hotel allowing you to go back to your senses in a safe environment. "I'm sorry." you mumble, head in your hands. "I never knew a spirit could change your emotions like that.." you confess, snapping your fingers along with the word "that". Zak shakes his head. "Me neither..but you don't have to apologize for something you were unaware of. It should be me apologizing, if I would've never let you go alone you wouldn't have been hit with so many mood swings and practically go insane for 2 hours.." you nervously chuckle at the part of you going insane, it seemed so surreal to you. "It's fine really..we got great evidence and I'm not dead so I guess this was a pretty eventful night.." you stand up patting Zak on the shoulder. He shrugs. "I guess so y/n..I guess so.."
