Remember when her mum came into her room last night, saying something about an aunt? Well, this is it----
----------------------
I rested my head on my chin, staring out the car window as my mom jabbered on about the cute little town that my aunt and her children were moving to, which just so happened to be my town. I turned my head slightly to the left, looking at my mother as she spoke.
"...your aunt Marcia says its absolutley delightful, and the children are excited to start living here, with us!"
Mom turned to look at me, a ridiculously large smile on her face. She was always so happy and upbeat. Even when she's drunk and thinking about Dad.
How am I even her daughter?
I sighed like the annoyingly childish teenager I was and I looked back out the window, watching the raindrops hit my window.
Some big drops, some little drops, some medium sized ones...
I liked to compare myself to the raindrops. Some of them are really strong, like the one hanging off the side rear view mirror outside of the car.
It held on as many different raindrops flew at it, assaulting its life as it so dearly held on.
But, as they all do, it couldn't take it and it fell, splashing on the road and then became long forgotten by anything that could've possibly known it.
I sat up, sighing.
I am that raindrop.
*******************
We were about an hour away from where we lived, almost at Aunt Marcia's house.
I hated her.
Mom pulled into the driveway of my Aunt Marcia's house, humming some weird tune. I scrunched up my nose as I stared at her many plants on the outside of her house. The grass was a vibrant green, and her door was wide open. Mom honked, and a thin, frail looking body scurried out, wiping her hands with a white- or, rather, grey- towel.
Her gray, wrinkled eyes were wide, a sort of hope flickering in them. Her face fell when she saw her sister and I.
Mom opened the door, waving. "Hey, Marcia!" She grinned, hopping out of her vehicle. Marcia waved, smiling softly.
I stayed in the car, studying the two as I bit my lip. Mom hugged Marcia, wrapping her arms tightly around her.
I blinked, taken aback when I saw Marcia stare at me through the car. She curled her lip in disgust, shooting daggers.
I shrunk in my seat, whimpering. She knows.
God, I hate her so much.
Mom released her and Marcia's facial expressions completely swapped as she smiled adoringly at her little sister.
They spoke for a few moments and Mom turned around, raising a slender right eyebrow, gesturing towards our suitcases on the ground in front of our van.
I groaned, unbuckling my seatbelt as I opened the door. I hopped out of the vehicle, rubbing my sore bum as I stretched my legs out.
I opened the back of the vehicle, then walked to the front of the car, glaring at the bags. I pulled out the prettiest one first, careful not to rip off the handle.
I helped with the bags and all, but I totally ignored Maria who, in turn, completely ignored me.
The car ride was silent, beside the occasional, "So, how have you been?" Which would launch into a story about her kids. I didn't pay attention, I had better things to do.
------------------------
I got home at around three, where my two cousins waited. Aleisha, Marcia's eldest daughter- who was fifteen, despite the way she acts- was eating a snickers as she stared at me. The snickers came from the candy jar.
What really made me mad was that that candy jar was hidden in my room, in one of my shoe boxes.
Mom gave me a worried look, knowing how I felt about people snooping through my things, let alone taking them and basically shoving it in my face.
I growled, storming into the kitchen, where her little brother, James (my favorite of the two), sat on the counter, his long legs swinging off the counter.
He was particularly tall for his age- which was 14. He stood at 6'5, and he was proud of it, not letting us forget it.
I mean, not that we could forget. He towered over us.
He munched on a slice of pizza as he looked up, arching an eyebrow at me. He swallowed his food before he spoke.
"What are you doing in our house, (Y/N)?" He asked, he voice cracking continuously. I rolled my eyes.
"You're in my house, you dweeb," I seethed, ripping open the refrigerator door.
He laughed. "Don't be so mean about it, cuz. I know you missed me. I missed you, too," he hopped off the counter, opening his arms for a hug. I rolled my eyes once again. "God, you're so queer."
He winked. "You know it."
Funny thing is, I was joking. But he's actually pretty gay, though his homophobic mom doesn't know. All Marcia knows is how to insult you behind closed doors and obviously praise her daughter over even her own son.
I threw a carrot at him, arching an eyebrow. "Missed me?"
He laughed. "Yep. Can't say the same about Aleisha. She's on the rag and believe me when I say she almost clawed my eyes out when I asked her where she got the chocolate." He jerked his head towards the dining room, where Aleisha brooded, continuously groaning louder and louder so that her dear mother would tend to her.
I hope she choked on my chocolate.
"Anyways," James mumbled, scratching the back of his neck, "have you seen my big brother recently?"
I nodded, chewing on another carrot. "Yeah. He works at the cafe down the street."
"Ah," he nodded in reply. "I see. Is he still trying to pick up girls?"
I snorted. "When is he ever not?"
He chuckled. "For real," he agreed.
I scratched the back of my head, checking my phone.
It was already six o'clock.
I swore, looking up at James. "I'm going to the cafe right now, wanna come with?"
He nodded eagerly. "I wanna see my big brother!" He looked around as his voice quietened. "But, don't tell Mom we're going to see him; she doesn't want me around someone who didn't finish high school."
I snorted. "I can take you where I want, and if that means you can see your older brother that was brutally ripped away from you because he decided to not finish high school, then so be it." I growled, adding, "And you guys are in my house. What I say goes." I blinked. "Same for Mom, too, but she won't really say anything."
James threw his fist in the air. "Yes!"
