"Cassia, hurry up or you'll be late!" My mother called to me. I could hear that she was worried and annoyed. Worried that I wouldn't make it in time and annoyed that we were already late. "If you don't pick up the pace, the airplane will leave without you."
"I know mom!" I screamed back down to her. I heard our front door slam, my moms way of telling me that she was going out to the car and that she wouldn't wait forever. I checked my bag to make sure that I had all the clothes that I would need. I also grabbed the money I saved up from working as a waitress at the local restaurant to by me some new clothes once I got to the school. It was called the "Crossing Paths Academy for the Truly Gifted." Although the name hints that it's a boarding school, a lot of students didn't expect that. Also, this was the kind of school that excepted the A++ students. It wasn't that kind of special. The special that they are hinting is supernaturally special. Not the kind of people who love the dark and just happen to like blood so they think they are a vampire. No, this is a school for actual vampire kids. Not just vampires, but all the others. Like a werewolf, fairy, troll (almost extinct in today's society), and all the others that I could name.
I tore my thoughts away from all the different breeds of "special" there as I continued to pack my bag. Just as I was putting in my hair bush, tooth brush, and tooth paste; my mom honked her horn. Meaning my time was up. I threw them in my bag, grabbed another pair of skinny jeans (Why do we call them a pair of skinny jeans? There is just one pants with two legs.), and my perfume. The absolute last thing that I grabbed was the 5 family books and the one that combined them all in a huge summary and zipped up the suitcases. I threw them over my shoulder and headed down stairs for my front door.
The drive there wasn't long, and the next thing I knew, I was sitting in the chair waiting for the plane to take off. I took a glance around and seen mostly teenagers on this flight. The school accepts high school students now. It was going to accept all grades, but thought that it would be really difficult to raise them without their parents. The best thing is that the school was built on an island. That way the only way to get there was fly by a jet or airplane to the nearest airport, then take a boat over there. I thought that building the school was a great idea. I just wish that they had built it sooner... Maybe growing up would have been a lot different..... I was drawn back to reality when the plane started taking off, so I put in my headphones and started to read a book.
When we finally landed, the first thing I wanted was some Starbucks. Unfortunately, I had no idea where I was or my way around, so I just followed everyone off of the plane. We all got off in a big group but was easily split up once we got out of the terminal. Some went off to the gift shop, others ran for the bathroom, some went to the bar to get food and drinks. The rest of us just decided to go to get our luggage because we didn't know when we'd leave. I seen my black suitcase with the purple skulls coming and was ready to grab it when I felt someone watching me. I ignored the feeling until I grabbed my suitcase then I looked around. There were so many people around I couldn't see who was staring at me and went back to getting the luggage. There were so many luggage that went by before I finally seen my second one that looked identical to the first one come through. I grabbed it and checked the name just to make sure that it was mine.
"Attention: All students going to the Crossing Paths Academy, the boat will be here in half an hour. They are giving you time to fill your stomachs up before the boat ride. That is all." The person was in his early thirties and had a raspy voice. I looked around and found the cafeteria a little walk away. I stopped at the bathroom, and it was still crowded. When I looked, it seems like the line was still out and in the hallway, so the best bet would be to get food or find a different bathroom. Carrying my luggage wasn't hard considering we got the ones that rolled and you just had to lead it around like a dog. I laughed at the mental image it gave me. I was finally entering the cafeteria and looked around. Most of the teenagers looked normal. And you could already see them getting grouped up. Jocks here, preps there, goths over there, and so on. It was sickening.
I sat my bags down next to a table and went to get something to eat. As I stood in line, I swear about six or seven people cut me. But I didn't care. If it meant that they could feel better for at least another ten minutes, go them. When I got closer, I scanned over the menu. Only a few things stood out to me. So, when it was my time to order I just got two chocolate waffles with white chocolate morsels in them and a glass of milk. Hey, it was only 7:30 a.m. which meant breakfast time in the neighborhood to me. When it was finally ready, I walked back to the table and noticed that all the seats were gone except one. So as I sighed, I fell into the chair and sat my food and drinks down. I whirled my luggage around so that I could watch it while I ate. It's an airport full of teens. Something was bound to happen to someone, and that someone would not be me. I took one bite and tasted absolute heaven. Yummy!!
Just after I had finished going to the restroom, an automatic warning came on saying that our boat has arrived and to start boarding up. I got my suitcases and headed for the boat. It was a lot bigger than I was expecting. It took a few minutes for me to actually take in the scene of the huge boat. The boat was a large white thing, and stood out amongst the others that were at the dock. It looked more like a yacht then a boat. Which means that, despite what the school stands for, it is well funded. While I boarded, I was taking in the scenery. After we had departed , there was only one thing on my mind; what supernatural power should I say I have...
