Tia's POV
I walk up to the front desk, Vi on my hip and Chandler trailing behind me. I lean close, whispering to the nurse. "I'm here to see Shawn Mendes." The nurse looks up at me, obviously not believing I wasn't a crazy fan. "Honey, I'm not gonna give you his room number. He might not know you." She tells me. I place Violet on the counter, pulling my phone out of my back pocket. I unlock it, pulling up FaceTime. I click on Andrew's contact, turning my volume up enough to hear him, but low enough not to disturb anyone. My phone rings for a few seconds, and then Andrew appears, obviously in a dark room. "Hey, Andrew. Can you come down here, please? The nurse isn't telling us where he is." I ask quietly, and Violet gurgles and giggles. "Yeah, yeah, I'll be right down. Shouldn't Violet be asleep though? It's almost midnight." Andrew asks quietly, and suddenly there's light. He must have come into a hallway. "She was asleep. Then some lady with three kids accidentally bumped into us." I say quietly, scooping Violet back up. I turn to look at Chandler, and some girl in a hospital gown was twirling her hair and flirting with him. I shrugged it off because he was obviously very uncomfortable. Andrew and I both hung up, so I slip my phone into my back pocket, and I walked over to my boyfriend. "Hey, babe. Andrew is coming down now to get us." I yawn, and so does Vi. "Um, who are you?" The girl snaps at me in a rather annoyingly high pitched voice. "Um, his girlfriend." I say, mimicking her voice. "Anyways, Andrew will be down here any second. Do you want to go ahead and head to the hotel with Vi, or do you want to go up with me?" I ask quietly. From the corner of my eye I could make out the disgusted look the girl was making. "I should probably head to the hotel. Violet should really get to bed." Chandler says, yawning. I start to hand Violet off to Chandler, but she starts to cry. I start bouncing her on my hip, humming to her. Andrew turns the corner to the hallway in front of us, and could obviously tell I was distressed. "If you be a good girl and go with daddy then you get to see Uncle Shawny tomorrow..." I coo in her ear, but she keeps crying. She loves Shawn, what's up with her? "Deep in the meadow... under the willow... a bed of grass... a soft green pillow..." I start, then look over to Chandler. He was digging through Vi's bag. The girl had scurried off somewhere I guess. Andrew was standing near the hallway entrance, waiting for me. "Lay down your head and close eyes. When again they open, the sun will rise." I sing softly, and then Chandler walks over, joining in. "Here it's safe, and here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm." We both sing, smiling at each other. Violet keeps whining, rubbing her eyes. Vi's tired! That's what it is. I start to rock her slowly. "Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you." Chandler and I sing, and he moves her pacifier to her mouth, and she takes it. "Deep in the meadow, hidden far away, a cloak of green, and a moon beam ray." We sang softly, and he began to gently stroke her hair. "Forget your woes... let your troubles lay...and when again it's morning, they'll wash away..." we sang quietly, and Violet laid her head on my shoulder. "Here it's safe, and here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm. Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place...where I love you..." Chandler and I finished, and Vi was definitely asleep. I carefully hand Violet off to Chandler, and he takes her. Chandler kisses my cheek, whispering a goodbye in my ear soon after. I whisper it back, turning to Andrew. "Now, lets go see Shawn." I say breathlessly, running a hand through my hair. "Follow me..." Andrew says, turning around. We walk down the hall, and then take a left. We go over to the elevators, pressing the up button. "Have the doctors said anything yet?" I asked, crossing my arms. "They did an MRI, a CAT scan, and an X-Ray. The results for the X-Ray were fine. So were the MRI and CAT scan results. They think he was just exhausted and dehydrated." Andrew says, pulling on his neck tie. He was nervous. "Why would that be the case?" I asked Andrew calmly, and then the elevator doors opened. I stepped inside, and Andrew follows. "Well, um... Look, I promised Shawn I wouldn't tell you this... But the thing is... I think you need to know..." Andrew says, and I raise my eyebrow as Andrew presses the button to Shawn's floor. Floor five. "Shawn... he's a mess... He hasn't eaten no where near as much as he normally does... he doesn't drink as much as he needs to... he refuses to sleep... he claims he can't, no matter how hard he tries... Tia, Shawn needs you." Andrew tells me, and the doors open again. "I can't, Andrew. He's on tour, and Chandler needs help with Violet. I may not be her mother, but I've stepped up to the plate of being her mom." I explain, feeling awful. "Bring her and Chandler with you. Don't say Chandler has work producing music, Shawn has a recording studio rigged up on the bus." Andrew tells me, and I pause. "I'll have to think about it..." I say, running my hands through my hair. We approach a room at the end of the hall, and Andrew slowly opens the door. Shawn was asleep on the bed, a Saline drip connected to him via IV. I rush over to him, dropping my purse on the floor next to the bed. I leaned over Shawn, gently touching his cheek. Shawn's cheeks were flushed, his breathing was steady, and his hair was a mess. He was okay, but you could tell he was distressed. Shawn began to stir, and I pulled away. His eyes opened, and he looked at me curiously. "Tia? What are you doing here? Wait, where am I?" He asked, sitting up. I gently shushed him, placing my hand on his cheek once more. "I came to see you, I was worried. You're in the hospital. Grey-Sloan Memorial to be exact." I say gently, smiling at him. "Why don't you lay back down? Get some sleep, you need it." I suggest softly. "Lay with me?" Shawn requests, and I sigh. "Sure." I say, kicking my shoes off and placing my phone on the table next to his bed before crawling in next to him. "Let me hold you though." I say, opening my arms. Shawn lays his head on my shoulder, and I wrap my arms around him. I begin to stroke his hair, closing my eyes as I do so. Shawn yawns, relaxing under my touch. "Will you sing to me?" Shawn asks in a yawn. "What would you like me to sing?" I ask in a whisper, pressing my lips to his forehead. Shawn pauses for a moment, thinking. "The one you sing to Violet." Shawn requests, and I smile. "Deep in the meadow... Under the willow... a bed of grass... a soft green pillow... lay down your head, and close your eyes... When again they open, the sun will rise." I begin, stroking his hair still. "Here it's safe... Here it's warm... Here the daisies guard you from every harm... Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true... Here is the place where I love you." I sing softly, smiling. "Deep in the meadow... Hidden far away... a cloak of green... a moon beam ray... forget your woes, and let your troubles lay... And when again it's morning, they'll wash away... Here it's safe... Here it's warm... Here the daisies guard you from every harm... Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true... Here is the place... where I... love... you..." I softly sing, and when I finish I noticed Shawn's breathing had slowed down. He was obviously asleep. I smiled, closing my eyes. Soon, sleep over came me.
I groan, grabbing my buzzing phone before it wakes Shawn. It was a text message from Chandler.
(A/N: Bold Italics is Chandler, and Italics is Tia.)
Why didn't you come to the hotel last night?
Shawn asked me to stay, and I haven't seen him in weeks
Okay, I understand. Can you give me a heads up next time, please?
Of course. I should've told you last night, I just didn't think about it
Baby, I'm not your keeper, it's okay. You do you, alright?
No, I should've told you. I'm sorry, if I made you worry
Baby, I'm not upset. I just want to make sure you're okay
I understand
How's little Vi doing?
Violet's doing great
I'll text you in a few. We're about to leave to come see Shawn
Bye, babe! I'll see you soon!
I turn my phone off, placing it on the table. I hold Shawn close, stroking his hair. I heard a knock on the door, and when I looked over a Doctor was standing in the door way. "Hi, um... I'm Dr. Amelia Shepard, I was coming to check in on Shawn." She greeted quietly, and I smiled at her. "I'm Tia, and Shawn seems to still be asleep." I say, moving the hair out of his eyes to show her. "I figured you were Tia. He kept asking for you last night." Dr. Shepard informed me, and I give her a confused look. "He did?" I asked. "He did. Shawn must really love you. You're a great girlfriend to him." My eyes go wide as she says this. "Shawn and I aren't together." I say as politely as I can. "Oh, I'm sorry. I assumed you were with the way he was talking about you." She said, and I nod. "Shawn has had a huge crush on me since the beginning. I love Shawn as much as anyone can love someone, just not in a romantic way. Shawn is my best friend, and I would do anything for him. My heart belongs to my amazing boyfriend, Chandler as of two months ago. They've gotten along for my sake since Chandler and I started dating. Shawn absolutely loves Violet, she's Chandler's daughter, to pieces, and Violet adores him." I explain, stroking Shawn's hair. "Well, I'm glad the four of you have things figured out. Although I believe Shawn does need to wake up." The doctor says, and I nod. I gently shake Shawn, whispering in his ear. "Shawn... Shawn, it's time to get up." I say, still shaking him. Shawn groans, hugging me tighter. "Shawn, it's time to get up." I say, trying to figure out how to get him up. "If you get up I'll go find you some muffins." I say, and suddenly a weight is lifted off of me. "Muffins?" Shawn asks, looking around. His hair was a mess, and the side of his face was red. I hadn't noticed it last night, but Shawn was shirtless. I blinked, not quite registering what just happened. "I'm gonna go find muffins." I say, climbing out of the bed. I slide my boots on, zipping them up. I then slide my phone in my back pocket. I ruffle Shawn's hair, giving a quick goodbye. As I walk out the door I can hear Dr. Shepard talking to Shawn, asking him how he's doing and things like that. I walk over to the elevators, and press the down button. As I patiently wait for the doors to open my phone buzzes.
