Chapter 19

“Yes missing…We haven’t heard from her in over 24 hours. I called to see if you’ve heard anything?”

“Uh-no.” I managed to force out. “Renee and I haven’t spoken in about two months.” I added, muttering slightly. Thoughts of what happened swirled my mind and I was beginning to feel hurt once again from what my best friend did to me. I understand that it was Kyle’s fault too (my ex-boyfriend) but I guess I could say I expected more from my best friend. Never in my mind would I had imagined that she would do this to me. Friends were meant to be forever. I never expected my best friend to be a backstabber. “Have you called the police?”

“Oh. Not yet we assumed she would be with one of her friends since it’s not out of the ordinary for her to just get up and disappear for a few hours. Well I better get going and see if anyone else has seen her. I’ll call you if I hear anything. It was nice talking to you dear.”

She ended the call before I got a chance to respond. I sat back in my original position with my phone resting on my ankle whilst I sat cross legged. My eyes returned to look out the window as thoughts of Renee and I ran through my mind. My phone buzzed against my ankle once again and this time I checked the Caller 1D.

“Hey Miranda.” I answered into the phone, slightly less enthusiastic then what she was hoping for.

“Charlie dear! I just finished the meeting with the boy’s management and guess what! They said yes! They agree that it would be a perfect idea to gain publicity for both you and the band!”

“That’s great news Miranda.” I replied letting out a deep breathe, letting the news sink in. ”I’m actually really excited to get to design some clothes. Usually I just pick out and match clothes together and I never really get to make my own designs!”

“Well I can promise you that if you do this right, a lot more doors will be opening for you.” I heard her whisper over the phone excitedly to me. “We also discussed the weather whilst we were there. Since the concert has been rained out, you guys are going to stay in a hotel for a few days seeing as it will be difficult to move the tour bus in this weather. I hope that’s alright with everyone. Oh, I almost forgot they want you in for a meeting at 10am tomorrow morning with some interns to begin some designs. I’m going to get you to meet them in the hotel conference room so that it won’t be too difficult with the weather. You should bring one of the boys along too, seeing as the merchandise is promoting them. It will show the team that the band is fully invested in every part of their success.”

I raised an eyebrow at Miranda’s suggestion. Take one of the boys with me…

“Yeah that’s a really good idea. When do we go to the hotel?” I asked standing up and stretching slightly.

“As soon as you guys want to. I can have a car sent within an hour if you want to tell everyone and get packed. Chances are you guys might stay there for over a week anyways to get you out of the cramped space while you can. I can’t imagine what it would be like spending every night in a tour bus with those rowdy and not to mention smelly boy’s.”

“They’re not that bad.” I replied to Miranda, laughing slightly at the stereotypical statement.

“You’re probably growing used to the stench that’s why you disagree. Anyway darling I must head off. Talk to you soon!”

I ended the phone call with Miranda and rested the phone on the table in front of me. I was excited about being able to design the boy’s merchandise, there was no doubt about that but I couldn’t get my mind around the fact that Renee was missing. MISSING. Admitting we hadn’t spoken for two months but before everything that happened, the cheating I mean, we were best friends. She was the sister I never had. True, I couldn’t imagine myself forgiving her but that didn’t mean I didn’t care that she was gone.
