Chapter 20

“Luke, that looks terrible.” I laughed, removing the drawing from his hand and watching as his proud face becomes crestfallen. I scrunched the paper in my hand but not before having one last glance at it and smirking again. You could visually see that Luke was no artist, with his slanted stick figure drawing wearing an even worse drawing of a shirt with a picture of a badly drawn guitar on it. I could see what he wanted but I think we may need a better drawer.

“Oh come on! It’s not that bad!” He joked grabbing another piece of paper and beginning to draw once again. I swear I couldn’t believe this boy was seventeen with his nose basically brushing the paper from the proximity, the way he held the blue pen so tightly and his tongue hanging out of his mouth in concentration. My eyes focused on his new drawing as he put a little too much effort into drawing another stick figure.

“You know, you don’t have to draw the person…” I laughed as he scribbled out the terribly drawn lines. He stopped squiggling for a moment before turning slowly towards me.

“You don’t?” He asked dropping the pen on the paper.

“No silly. I only need a drawing of the designs so I know what needs to go on the clothes.” Giggles escaped my parted lips as he stared open mouthed at me as though I wasn’t understanding something…or he wasn’t.

“But don’t you want a model?” He winked at me as began to draw once again. My head shook at his antics before I smile formed across my face.

“Are you offering?” I asked slyly. Once again Luke looked up not only to meet my eyes this time but also Miranda and the twins.

“Uhhh” He muttered as he shifted somewhat uncomfortably in his chair. The twins shared a look with smiles attempting to be hidden as I wiggled my eyebrows at Luke. “No thanks?” We all laughed heartedly as Luke finally began to relax his stance as he realised that I was only joking.

“What about this?” The black haired girl to my right piped as she passed a neatly drawn design so that it was within my eyesight. I skimmed the paper examining the detail that was drawn. It was a cartoon drawing of the boys onstage; Luke and Michael playing the guitar, Calum on bass and Ashton rocking the drums with the words sprawled across the top ‘Nothing Lasts Forever…Nothing Stays The Same.’ Luke whisked the paper from my hands as he stared wide eyed.

“This is really good” The surprise evident in his voice, “and a 5SOS reference.” He added as he laughed.

“Fan?” I asked her as she took the paper back in his gentle hands.

“Maybe…” Ainsly, I think it was replied as she handed the drawing around to Miranda and her sister as they admired it. I laughed as Luke looked at her with a goofy smile.

We continued drawing and colouring the entire morning, making the event more fun than it was supposedly meant to be. If anyone had walked through those doors, I doubt they would have assumed a professional meeting was intended with the multiple stacks of ridiculous draws stacked in a pile upon the glass table. Ranging from guitars, to drawings of voodoo dolls and stilettos, I would say the event had been successful.

“Do you think you can work with some of these Charlie?” Miranda asked me nicely as she helped pack away the mess of pen and paper we had left on the table.

“I’m positive. Most of them turned out really well.” I chirped as I picked up each drawing we had cleared as a group and placed them in the folder I had brought with me.

“That’s wonderful darling! The next step would be to have some made to see if they work. The sooner you can get on that, the sooner we will have this merchandise up and running!”
