On the long car ride home, Dylan fell asleep with his five dollar stuffed blue pufferfish, Mrs.Smith fell asleep, Mr.Smith drove, and Chase and John were brainstorming on what to do this summer besides pick on their little siblings. Becca just watched out the window as if watching for some kind of interesting thing to do would run up to her car and take her away. Nothing happened. They arrived at their huge, two story home with eight bedrooms (some are guest rooms) all of which have their own lavatory. The house is a bluish gray color with white shutters, countless windows, a giant living room, a library (very small but filled with very interesting books), a big kitchen, endless hallways, and a giant basement. Becca and her family walked up their white, wood steps and into their home. Mrs.Smith immediately went to cooking lunch. Mr.Smith picked up the a copy if this morning's paper. Dylan went to play with his new stuffed fish, Chase and John went to play football, and Becca went to her special closet. In her room, she would go into her walk-in closet and do whatever she wanted. She even had a secret candy stash.
_Five Minutes Later_
"Rebecca!! Dylan!! Meal time!!" shouted Mrs.Smith. The two younger siblings ran downstairs and met their parents at their ginormous, mahogany (there you go, Hunger Games Fans), dining room table. Soon, John and Chase joined the party. Except they were covered head-to-toe in mud. Mr. And Mrs.Smith didn't seem too thrilled, but the twins got to eat anyway. Mr.Smith had just brought up the subject about an article he was reading about owls being sighted around the London area carrying letters and everyone reacted differently.
"Oh, my! Letters, you say? Why on Earth? I thought we had people for that! And cars for long distance!" exclaimed Mrs.Smith.
"I think it's a damage to cars. What if they ate before arriving? What if they dropped a heavy package?" wondered Chase out loud.
"I think it could be fascinating to watch!" John exclaimed.
"I don't like owls! They're scary!" shared Dylan.
"I think it's cool." shared Becca quietly.
"What was that, dear?" asked Mrs.Smith.
"Oh. What? Nothing." Just then, a tapping noise erupted on the window in front of the sink. All heads turned that way. Sitting on the sill, was a beautiful, white and gold-ish brown owl, a letter in its beak. Everyone gaped at it. It just hooted softly. Becca emerged from her seat and opened the window.
"REBECCA! WHAT D'YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" Everyone shouted. Becca ignored them. The owl hopped right in. Becca gently removed the letter from the owl's beak and opened the wax seal that bore the symbol of an H and for boxes with a different animal in each. A piece of parchment with very elegant and old writing sprawled across it. Becca read to herself before reading aloud,
"Dear Ms.Smith,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress." Becca looked up at her family. Their faces bore the same look. Shock, fear, and curiosity.
