October had crept up behind the students' backs and sprung up upon them so quick, none of them even acknowledged it. Except for the girl who obsessed over a bug. And a group of immature school boys. (They are the next Marauders!! I'm kidding, but that'd be awesome)
"Halloween is at the end if the month, guys!" Skylar said excitedly.
"Yeah, we know, Skye. We aren't stupid." Claire replied agitatedly.
"Claire, be nicer. Skylar is just really excited about Halloween. Just like I am about Christmas!" Claire just rolled her eyes as Becca spoke. Behind them, the Magcon boys discussed all their upcoming Halloween pranks they were about to pull on the girls. Hayes was just in his own world. He wasn't listening to the guys. Suddenly, a cold air swept up inside him and he felt frozen for a couple seconds.
"Pranks, you say?! Well, I like pranks! Ever since I went here as a student!!" A voice said.
"And you are?" Cameron asked.
"Peeves the Poltergeist. I'm one of the school's ghosts! I'm also the naughtiest." The ghost replied. Hayes still didn't care. He wanted to be in Slytherin. But he also wanted to be in Gryffindor. It was impossible to be in two houses at the same time. Nash keeps telling me that I can't just mope around like this.
"Plus, Halloween is coming up! C'mon, butthead, we need to be ready for the best time of the year." Nash would nag him. Hayes busied himself in his Defense Against the Dark Arts book.
"Who's buzzkill over here reading his book?" Peeves taunted. Hayes rolled his eyes and continued. In front of him, Becca was chatting away with her friends.
Man, Hayes thought, she made him mad. Her kindness killed him. He didn't like it. Or maybe he did like it.... What was he saying?! Anyway, back to the girls. Claire, Skylar, and Becca gracefully skipped to their next class. Defense Against the Dark Arts. But the bad part was...the other House whom was taking the class was Gryffindor. Becca had to endure Hayes kicking the back of her seat, flicking the back of her head, and shooting spit wads at her neck. She wished Matt would be with her and make Hayes stop. But, this time, Hayes didn't kick her seat once. He didn't spit a spit wad at her. And he only flicked her head once. And that was to ask her what she got for answer twenty on the assignment.
The Halloween Feast began and students were banging their forks, knives, and spoons on their plates. Becca and Skylar were debating on which books they were going to read that night when Jack J. walked up to Claire.
"Erm...nevermind...wait! I mean, uh. Er...Claire?" Jack J. stuttered.
"Yes?" Claire replied whilst fighting back laughter at Jack's awkwardness.
"I was wondering if you wanted to...erm, if you wanted to hang out later. This Saturday, maybe?" Claire's eyes bulged out of her head.
"Uh, yeah! Sure! I would love to." Claire replied. Jack J. let out a giant sigh of relief. After he left, Claire, Skylar, and Becca burst into a symphony of giggles. They didn't want to be overheard by Jack J. and they continued with the Halloween Feast.
"I heard that when Harry Potter was in his first year, a troll was used as a diversion on Halloween for Voldemort to get past Hagrid's giant, three-headed dog named Fluffy and to get to the Philosopher's (Sorcerer) Stone!
"It would give anyone in its possession immortality. It is rumored to have been destroyed by Dumbledore himself! Unfortunately, Dumbledore, whom was the previous headmaster at Hogwarts, was killed in Harry's sixth year." Skylar had given hrs girls a Hogwarts history lesson at the end if the Feast. Becca was very intrigued but Claire didn't seem amused at all.
"I've heard that story a million times. It got old." Claire said. They headed back to their dormitories thinking about the day ahead. Nothing really special, except it was a Quiditch game. Ravenclaw verses Hufflepuff.
