Chapter 4 - Where does the good go

No one likes to lose control, but as a surgeon there is nothing worse. It's a sign of weakness, of not being up to the task. And still there are times when it just gets away from you. When the world stops spinning and you realize that your shiny little scalpel isn't gonna save you. No matter how hard you fight it, you fall. And it's scary as hell. Except if there is an upside to free-falling, it's the chance you give your friends to catch you.

📍Seattle, Grey-Sloan Memorial hospital

Meredith's POV

I was not very far from Teddy's room so I decided to go see her. But when I walked in the room, Owen face was dark and Teddy seemed shocked.

Me - Oh my god Teddy, what do you got ?

Maggie - She needs a valve replacement and a tricuspid repair.

I was completely confused, she was fine  like 2 hours ago, and now she needed an important surgery.

Teddy - I'm sorry Maggie, I know you are a really good surgeon and you're perfectly capable to do this surgery, but I want Cristina Yang to operate on me. She is the only one whom I perfectly trust.

Owen - Are you sure ? She is in Zurich and Maggie can do it.

Teddy - I WANT Cristina !

Me - Okay I call her.

So I took my phone and called Cristina.
But Shane Ross answered.

Shane - Hello ?

Me - Shane ? It's Meredith Grey can I talk to Cristina ? It's urgent.

Shane - Wait a second, she can't take the phone, I put it on speaker.

Cristina - What's going on ?

Me - It's Teddy...

Cristina - What Teddy ?

Me - She's in Seattle for Owen's wedding, but it turned out that she needs a valve replacement and a tricuspid repair...she wants you to operate on her.

Cristina - What ?! No I can't ! What if I mess up ? Absolutely not, I could kill her !

Me - She definitely wants you.

Cristina - Well, tell her I said no.

Me - Listen to me. You are Cristina Yang, you are the chief of an hospital in Zurich, and you won an Harper Avery award. You can do this.

Cristina - Maggie can do it.

Me - Cristina !

Cristina - *sigh* Fine, I'll take the first plane for Seattle.

And she hung up.

Cristina's POV

I couldn't believe it. I was going back to Seattle, to operate on my mentor ! I really couldn't mess up.

Me - Shane, I have to go for at least a week. You're in charge of this hospital while I'm gone.

Shane - Are you sure ?

Me - Yes, can you do this for me ?

Shane - Yes, I will not disappoint you.

Me - Thank you. I have to go.

📍Zurich, airport

Great. So I was in the airport, buying a ticket for Seattle.

I was texting Meredith to tell her I'll be there in the night when my flight was announced. So I got in the plane.

In the plane I was only thinking about what would happen when I'll be in Seattle, especially with Owen. How was I going to react when I see him ?
Then I tried to sleep a little because I had 6 hours left before arriving at Seattle.

Owen's POV

After Meredith called Cristina, I left Teddy's room because I needed to be alone. The first place I thought of was the vent, thus I went there.

I was thinking about Cristina, she'll be here in less than 24 hours. I didn't know how I would react by seeing her. It will be probably awkward.

Cristina's POV

The plane had just landed so I took my phone to call Meredith.

Me - Mer ? I'm at the airport. Hum...can I stay at yours tonight ? I'm exhausted.

Meredith - Yes of course you're my person. Where are you exactly ?

Me - I just came out of the airport. Why ?

Meredith - Wait a minute.

And I saw her coming to me.
I hugged her.

Me - You came ! Oh I missed you so much !

Meredith - I'm so happy you're here. Come on, you need some sleep. I'm taking you home.

When I was with her it was like nothing has changed. But then, my thoughts had return to Owen, and I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen when I see him for the first time after two years.

Meredith - You're thinking about Owen right ?

Me - What ?...no...how do you know that ?

Meredith - Because you hung up on me last time, when I told you that he was going to get married, and right now you're like a million miles away.

Me - Yeah, I'm so stupid. I'm thinking about my ex-husband, when I left him two years ago and since, we did not see each other.

Where do you go with your broken heart in tow
What do you do with the left over you
And how do you know when to let go
