Chapter 8

Percy's POV

Wow, I've felt pain but this is some next level stuff. Chloe still cradled in my arms I pick her up and starts walking to my tent without saying a word to Artemis or her hunters.

When I reach my tent I walk in and lay the crying Chloe on my bed and put my hand on her forehead, murmuring the word 'sleep' . And walk out of the tent leaving a sleeping Chloe behind and no one able to bother her.

Outside I see all of the hunters and their Mistress. I just spin on my heel and walk towards the river the arrows still in my back and the blood dripping on the floor profusely. When I arrive at the river, I kneel by the banks and put my hand in the water. After a few moments a nyad swims to the surface.

" My Lord how can I be of assistance? "

I just grit my teeth and stand up to show her my back.

" Oooh! What happened!? Come in quickly, your losing to much blood!"

Turning back to the river I start wading in. Suddenly I hear Artemis speak up. I just stop wading not even turning to her.

" Perseus, come to the infirmary we can help you what are you doing?"

I turn my head to look at hear sending hear a cold stare. And keep on walking.

When I'm submerged I wave my hand and the top of the river freezes over. Two nyads swim closer and take me by the arms, pulling me over to a bed made of moss. They pull me down on my stomach. The new nyad talks now. My Lord, this is going to hurt but we must make quickly your bloodloss is great.

Ladies please calm down I'm fine, just needed some assistance with removing the arrows. Also I heal faster in the water and with two of my fathers domain such as yourself it will only help along the process.

" Of course Milord."

" At once Milord."

After 1 hour two little girls swam over playing some game. They stared at me in wonder and I waved at them, they waved back. Their mothers wanted to chase them away, but I told them it's fine.

So over the next 2 hours they pulled out arrows and cleaned the wounds. It was hard work, but I could tell they didn't mind. When they finished I stood up and my back felt great. I sat down and told them to do the same, I then proceeded to call over the little girls where both sat in my lap.

" You have done me a great deed today and for this I will give you two gifts. Firstly I will bless your daughters."

I then put my hands on each of their foreheads and murmured a incantation softly when I was done the two girls glowed blue for a while.

" As long as they call the place where they reside home they will live long and full lives, note I did not say happy. Yes they will be happy but will also be sad and angry and lots more. In other words a full life."

Both nyads looked at me in shock.

" My Lord, we are eternally grateful. "

" Yes thank you Milord we cannot express you gratitude enough."

" No need consider this payment for what you have done for the royal family today. And now my second gift is a secret that nly meandmy mother knew about, but she recently passed now you will be the only others that knows this secret."

I stand up and both nyads gasp with their hands at their face. The little girls just looked on in a awe.

Artemis' POV

When Percy submerged himself in the water and almost the whole river turned red and gold, I spun on the girls. Never had I ever given them such a berating, I kept on screaming at them for almost 20 minutes. Afterwards I told them to go back to camp and await further punishment. Only Thalia stayed by my side as we sat on the banks of the frozen river waiting for him to return. My most mind kept on going back to that glare he gave me before he walked into the river. I don't know why this one boy could make me care what he thought of me.

The river gave of a harsh reflection because of the gold in the now frozen surface. After 1 hour the sun had started to beat down on us so we moved to the shade of the trees 10 metres away. After 2 hours I started to panick, what if he died and they took his body to uncle, what if ,what if.

All of a sudden the lake unfroze and the red and gold water were swept downstream and then he walked out. Shirtless. Thalia and I stood up but I could only stare at how well toned his body was. When I looked up I saw his face was emotionless and his eyes cold, I cringed at the site. Then I noticed three large claw marks over his heart and they looked fresh.

I was afraid to ask but had to know.

" Perseus, where did you get the claw marks over your heart? On the report that Chiron sent over there wasn't any scars marked there."

He gave a cold laugh that sent shivers down my spine.

" Oh this? You know the monsters know a few weeks ago when we were ambushed by those monsters? Well I did my job and protected your hunters" he spat out the word " and defeated a drakon on my own whilst doing side battles to protect them. I got cut and bruised and burned from the smaller monsters which had surrounded me and when the hunters saw this they stepped back and laughed while actually shooting at me. After I killed them I killed the drakon but he got in a lucky shot and scratched me across the heart. The tips of his claws actually scraped my heart, and what do you think your hunters did when they saw me half dead on the floor lying in an already large pool of my blood? Huh Artemis WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY DID!!!"

I think, what would my hunters do? I stand up straighter before answering.

" They took you to the infirmary and helped you tend to the wounds?"

Beside me I could feel Thalia flinch and I knew I answered incorrectly.

" WRONG! They left my on the ground to die by myself. At least it looked like Tyche was on my side and there was a river nearby. I dragged myself to the river in hope I could heal myself then. I DRAGGED myself 50 YARDS to get to the river and even inside my own domain I couldn't heal myself the pain was too great. But like this time two nyads came to my aid and helped me recover. Even Thalia left me." he said her name like venom in his mouth." I was starting to think we became friends and that we could eventually be brother and sister. But at least I know now that I was wrong."

I couldn't believe what he was saying. Sure they hated men but they wouldn't leave him to die?

" Artemis, tell me do you know what pranks they pull?" I saw Thalia flinch again and I knew I wasn't going to like the answer. Looked him in the eyes and shook my head.

" Tell me Artemis do you know what it feels like to step in a bear trap. Tell me do you know what it feels like to fall into a dug pit 10 yards down on both feet. Tell me do you know what it feels like to get stabbed with a knife in the way to breakfast. BREAKFAST Artemis!!! The day haven't even started yet! Tell me! DO YOU KNOW!!??"

" You know what I'll see you in a weeks time I'm getting out of here for a bit and don't worry about me starving. I already hunt my own food since all the leftovers goes to the wolves anyway."

And with that he burst into flames almost burning my eyebrows off.
