Chapter 10

The guy let's out a sigh but soon smiles as he scratches the back of his head awkwardly.
"Ah sorry.. my mistake. You just looked familiar that's all. I'm uh, I'm new into town. The names Ben, Ben Drow-.. Uh Ben Drow."
I raise an eyebrow in confusion and suspicion. He cut himself off while introducing himself. As if he was going to say something he didn't mean to. But not only that, if he's new into town, how would I look familiar if he's never been here before?
"Ben, Drow?"
He chuckles nervously, squinting his face as he shrugs.
"Yeeeaahh.. Kinda like Crow.. but, you know, with a D.."
"Uh huh.."
I avert my eyes as an awkward silence clouds over us. Though it didn't last long as I felt I should speed up. I felt bad for how I was acting, as to me, it seemed like I was being rude.
"So uh, you're new to town right? I was just gonna go to a local café. Would you, wanna come?"
I understood that it was probably a bad idea to invite him but the café was usually busy, full with people, so he wouldn't be able to try something dodgy, even if he wanted to. There would be too many people as witnesses.
"Yeah! That'll be awesome!"
He smiles wide as he stands next to me, following as we make our way down the street.
As we walked, we spoke about all different things. His favourite movie genre was horror and favourite book genre was horror. He loves video games, especially horror. Seemed to be a common theme.. He only moved here a couple of days ago, though he won't say where he moved from. Every time I asked, his face dropped as if to be sad, or as if he didn't know the answer to that himself..
However, as we walk, I was still cautious so I wanted to keep my eye on him. Every time I looked over, he wasn't staring, which was good as that would seriously put me off. But this time when I looked, I noticed something .. his ears?
"Hey"
I call to him as we continue down the street.
"Your ears.. they're..pointy. Like a-"
"Like an elf?"
He finished my sentence for me. How did he know what I was going to say? Was it a common question/statement that people asked or made towards him? Or did he just have a wild guess that that's what I was getting at.
I nod to his words with a mumble and he chuckles, tucking his hair behind his ear to show it properly. They were long and pointy, almost looking sharp.
"I went through a phase of being obsessed with this game and liked how the main character had elf ears.. so I got mine sewn and I can't fix them to put them back."

BEN Drowned POV
I don't know why, but she made me feel saddens as we walked. When she asked about my home. I couldn't remember it.. I don't really remember much after drowning and living with Slender. Who my parents were. If I had any siblings, any pets? I can't remember anything. It's just like static.
However, she suddenly noticed my ears and I had to think fast. Usually my hair would cover them when in town but that's usually when I'm not around people. This is the closest I've ever to been next to someone in the town during the day before. I should have worn a hat. So, I made up the easiest thing ever and lied. Said some crap about a game and that I copied the main character. Which is a load of bullshit. The only person I know who does that is Jeff. Joker reject..

Ticci Toby POV
I had finally finished my errand and went to leave the house to meet BEN. But once I got outside, I couldn't help groaning I'm agitation. He was nowhere to be seen.
"B-BEN?... BEN??!"
I call as I look up and down the street. There was no sign of him. Where could he have gone.
"God don't g-get in any t-tr-trouble BEN.."
