Chapter 9:Griffin frowned.
Is that what Alice thought of him now? Just some guy that killed people.
But it wasn't too far from the truth... he was. He had been. He still is.
He ate people and killed them. He shot people and buried their bodies. He had illegal businesses and he was a loan shark.
But Griffin would never in a million years think of hurting Alice.
She was smart and nice and innocent- in a way. She was different.
Better than the other humans.
Griffin hoped he would be able to change Alice's mind about him. He hoped she would believe he didn't want to hurt her.
Griffin sighed. He didn't even know what to say to her.
The pair stood in silence.
"Well. Can I take you to breakfast and explain everything, " Griffin asked after thinking of every possible thing to say and coming up with nothing.
Alice didn't answer immediately. She looked around nervously then finally said, "I prefer not to."
Griffin was really not used to rejection. Or the word no.
"Alice. Just let me explain. Then you won't be scared of me," Griffin urged.
Well that was until she found out his other secret. Who knows what she'd do after finding that one out.
"No Griffin," Alice persisted.
Griffin sighed.
What could he say? She obviously wasn't going to let up.
Griffin thought for a moment. He could have not barged into her apartment. Thinking back on the last few minutes, Griffin realized he had made so many poor choices.
"If you go to breakfast with me and hear me out AND THEN still don't want me around- or near you- I won't bother you anymore," Griffin finally said as he watched Alice fidgeting.
She nodded.
"Okay. Fine," she whispered her arms were crossed in an uncomfortable way.
Griffin's smile grew.
"Um can I get changed in private," Alice asked as she uncomfortably stood in her apartment.
Nodding Griffin walked out of her apartment closing the door behind him.
Uncomfortably, Alice slowly made her way to the door. She peered through the peep hole, Griffin was standing next to the door on his cell phone.
Realizing he would not leaving, Alice went to her wardrobe and picked out an outfit quickly.
Once she had put her clothes on she came back to the front door. Peering out for a third time, Alice watched Griffin.
He was rubbing his hair. Griffin seemed agitated. Alice watched him check his phone then look back at the door.
She ducked down even though she knew he couldn't see her.
There was a light knock. Very soft compared to Griffin'd previous knocks.
"Alice? Are you ready," his voice filtered through the door.
Momentarily, Alice only stared at the door. She contemplated not answering and locking the door. After taking a deep breath she pulled at the handle letting the door swing open.
