I watched as Hiccup plummeted into the icy water. Fear filled me. I immediately dove towards the water. He's my brother, my best friend. I can't just leave him. The water is cold. I fire quickly at the net surrounding Hiccup. Luckily it snaps open with a gap large enough for him to skip out. We swim to the surface and sloppily take off.

"Are you okay?" I ask him, concern covering my face.

"I'm alright. We should get out of here before anything else happens." Hiccup suggests.

I nod in agreement. We start flying further up. Multiple other nets are fired at us. Just as I thought we were in the clear, of course disaster strikes. Hiccup lets out a strangled roar. I look back. A bola has struck him and he once again plummeted towards the sea. I swear he can't fly properly. I dive towards him, my adrenaline rushing. I watch as Hiccup is caught up in a large net and pulled up onto the viking ship. I scan the ship, stopping my dive.

This was it. My brother was to be turned into a human. I could feel it in my gut. The vikings aboard the boat chained and muzzled Hiccup. It pained me to watch but I was too paralyzed by my thoughts to move. My heart ached. My only family, my brother was just taken away from me. I'm brought back to reality when I see a bola heading right at me. I quickly maneuver to get out of the way. Every part of me wants to dive onto the boat and blast it to pieces. Yet I know if I do I risk getting caught. If I even get close enough to shoot a plasma blast I'm done for. All I can do is watch.

I follow the ship back to its village. I blend into the sky so I don't think they can see me. I could never say the same for Hiccup though. His brown scales are too bright to blend into the sky. I watch the vikings drag Hiccup off the ship. I felt sick. Hiccup was chained up. I could hear them rattling against the wooden docks. It pained me to see him like this. He struggled against the chains and muzzle that bound him. They bring him to a cage like dome. The ground inside had residue stains of blood. Even the area around it smelled of fear and death. One thought came to mind. Ceremonial killings.

They kill them here. This is where dragons become humans. At least for these vikings. I was about to witness my brother being killed. Oh gods. A large viking walked towards Hiccup with an axe. I gulped in fear. Another viking with one arm and a leg walks forward holding a scroll.

He speaks. "In this ceremonial killing of a dragon, we receive another one of our own! Depending on age, gender and looks they will be put amongst a family to live out the rest of their days as a viking! Or at least until Odin calls them to his gates. Today this dragon becomes a viking. Today this dragon, becomes one of us!"

A growl rises in my throat. This was wrong in so many ways! There was no need for more vikings! They had enough!

The large viking stood before Hiccup. He had a large auburn beard that was braided in several areas. A helmet topped his head with large horns. You could clearly see his green eyes which burned with excitement to end another dragons life. His broad shoulders cast a large shadow over Hiccup, seeming to foreshadow Hiccup's impending doom.

A few of the vikings cheer on the viking. "Yeah, Stoick! Give it to 'em!"

Stoick. The man who was about to kill my brother. About to make my brother human. Two vikings pull on ropes attached to Hiccup's muzzle, pulling his head up to face the sky. Stoick takes the axe and swings it, striking Hiccup in the chin just above the neck. Blood poured out of him. I watched the light fade from Hiccup's eyes. I felt like a part of me was ripped apart. My brother laid there, dying. He convulsed a few times before settling and lying still. His breathing stopped. I never thought I'd ever see my brother become human. A large sheet was draped over him gently. His large dragon form slowly shifted to the small form of a human.

I had to leave, I knew that. I just can't bare to leave Hiccup with them. I have to. I look sadly back at Hiccup who was now being carried away wrapped in the sheet draped over him. Tears filled my eyes as I flew away from the island. My brother was gone...

And so was my soul.
