i think part of the reason
i am a night owl because
it means i don't have to lie to anyone.
no one else is awake.
and if they are awake,
and choose to talk to me of all people,
then maybe there's something there.
Something more.
if they choose to talk to me,
then maybe i don't have to lie to them.
but the nice thing about the night is that
i can do whatever.
if i want to cry,
i can cry.
if i want to watch netflix,
i can watch netflix.
i can do almost anything.
i think the worst part of it though,
is not the lack of sleep,
or that nothing is open,
it's the loneliness.
it's the song of silence that the nighttime carries
into every part of people's homes,
only disturbed by the gentle whispers of breath from the sleeping,
and by people like
me.
