Chapter 7: Megan’s point of view

Nick left me standing there breathless and speechless, as he walked away towards the locker room.

“Meg, you coming?” My dad called from the rink entrance.

“Yeah, one second,” I said grabbing my skates from the bench, and making my way over to him.

“You ok, your face is red,” He asked me, and my hand immediately went to my face. I wasn’t sick, I was blushing I couldn’t tell my dad that because I didn’t want Nick to be kicked off the hockey team on his first day.

“Yea, I guess I’m just a little cold,” I lied.  I had always hated lying to him.

Stupid Nick and his stupid soft lips.

“Ok, let’s go I’m hungry.” He said as we walked out to the car.

“You’re always hungry,” I laughed.

“True, what do you want for supper?” He asked me as we started up the car.

“Pita pit,” I said with a hoping smile.

“Sure, the usual?” he asked, and I nodded.

“Yup,” I said turning on the radio.

Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon blasts through the speaker as we drove in to the Pita Pit parking lot.

“Do you wanna stay in the car?” Dad asked me as I jammed out to the radio.

“Yeah,” I said, and continued to jam out to the radio. He chuckled and walked towards the restaurant.

I started to sing to a Queen song, when my phone started to ring.

I looked at the caller I.D, it was James.

“Hello,” I answered the phone.

“Hey Shorty,” James replied.

“You are never gonna let it go, that I’m shorter than you are you?” I asked him.

“Nope,” He laughed.

“So why did you call me, you’re wasting my minutes,” I told him.

“Oh yeah but hey you have 200 minutes a month and use like 12” He said almost defensively.

“Dude I was joking, but really why did you call?” I said.

“I found out something today,” he told me.

“What did you find out?” I asked him.

“That you and Nick kissed after practice,” James said really fast and almost uncomprehend able.

“Where did you hear that?” I asked pretending I didn’t know what he was talking about.

“From Nick,” He said

Why would Nick tell James about the kiss, does he want to be off the team?

“You really shouldn’t believe everything you hear,” I tell James.

“Why shouldn’t I this time, its true isn’t it?” He asked.

“No,” I lied.

“Dude you are a horrible liar,” James laughed.

“I know am,” I said.

“So you and Nick huh? Poste-practice make out sessions,” James says and I blush intensely.
