I've recently begun making graphics, but I'm still a bit nervous about making them for others. I thought a contest might be a good way to get a chance to sort of test the waters, so to speak, and make graphics for someone else as a prize. At the same time, I get to see all your gorgeous graphics. :)
So without further ado...
There are two prompts: one is from Han, and one is from me. You may choose one prompt, or make a cover for both prompts, or make multiple covers for one of the prompts. Have fun with it! At the end of the contest, Han will choose her favorite out of the covers made for her prompt, and I will choose my favorite out of the covers made for my prompt. Those two people will get a prize pack (which will be detailed below).
So break out your graphic hats and lets get graphic-ing! (Yes, I'm going to make that a verb now.)
Micah's (my) Prompt:
Type of Graphic: Any (simplistic, minimal, manipulated)
Book Title: Superioris
Subtitle: You can use "There will be Blood" or "Welcome to the Santos Game", but a subtitle is optional.
Author's Name: Micah Good, or Titanically
Genre: teen fiction, think Hunger Games or Divergent, dystopia vs utopia, action
Brief Summary: Ingrid Wei lives in the futuristic dystopian nation of Santos, where physically powered extros and mentally powered intros reign supreme, and non powered ambivalents are forced to the background. Ing is an ambivalent masquerading as an intro, and after her father dies, her only chance of hiding that secret and making a life for herself is to enter the Santos Game. She is determined to win, even though on the surface, she is woefully outclassed and outmatched. However, it soon becomes clear that the Superioris, the governing body of Santos, are pulling more strings than was at first apparent.
Ideas: Dark elegance, darker themed, royalty, gilded, gold (gold is a key element for the main character), dark or mysterious prince (see current cover), etc. There are a few graphics I have made for this story throughout this graphics book, which may help to give you some ideas. In addition, the extended summary in the published book itself may give you some more inspiration/detail.
Theme: Dark, but elegant, royal, futeristic
Face Claim/Cast: There are no faceclaims, but I can give you a general idea of what the two main characters look like, in case you want to include a model. Ingrid is Asian (I generally see her more as Chinese), thin, with short hair chopped just below her chin (may be dark, or she later has it dyed silvery white platinum). Cas/Cassian, the other main character, is Caucasian, has dark brown-black hair, and is generally regal looking, with defined facial structures. In the past, I've used Tom Holland as a faceclaim. Both are aged 18-19 in the story.
Font Ideas: Pretty much whatever you want, but I would prefer staying away from scripts or heavily designed fonts (think bleeding cowboys lol or any other font with flourishes or heavy texture). I gravitate towards Sans Serif.
