Chapter 8

Y/N's POV:
I get out of the truck and a shiver goes down my spine as i realize that this is that horrible place: The lab. The lab that changed me. That took my life and made me into some experiment. I hate it.
I glare at it with intensity. Jane looks at me and notices that I'm turning a deep shade of red, out of hatred. She grabs my hand and squeezes it tightly. I give her a straight stare and nod my head once. She then stares at the building towering in front of us. Images spark though my mind as i am reminded of my horrible past:
The memories are scattered, though, most likely form all the brain washing they did to me. I see a huge tank of water and seeing the dark place. I can see myself as i scream in the tank. The wall in the room I am in starts cracking little by little. I scream and cry for help. But i am stuck in water with no way out.
They finally let me out. I start running, transporting guards in my way behind me, leaving them clueless. An alarm goes off and wails in my blood-covered ears. I run in my hospital gown all the way out. That's where it goes blank. I don't remember anything after that.
The next thing that flashes in my head is the brain wash. I'm strapped to a table and they put something in my mouth and press little gadgets to my temples. "450." Says that monster Brenner. My head cocks back and i loose it.
Next, I'm with Kali on my first mission. It was the nurse that gave my the knock out medication that makes me fall asleep. We found her in a gas station, buying waffles. I approach her and transport her into the wall. She hits her head hard. I break down and start to cry. I don't understand the purpose of killing people who's job calls for it. The only person who should "pay" for their sins, should be the one who started it all. Brenner.
Kali finishes her off and calls me weak. That night i cry in my hammock needing someone else. I plan my escape, but am stopped when i start to get nightmares and Kali says there are more of us out there. I get hope. Then Jane comes and changes my life.
Now, i have the biggest requirement, possibly one that can change the world. Pressure remains, but i am reminded of the prize at the end: a family. Friends. A town that can look after me and love me not for my abilities, but for my self.

Hopper's trunk slams shut and i clip back into reality again.
"All right you two. You guys let me do the heavy lifting up front, all right?" Hopper cocks the gun in his hands. "Save your strength till we're below."
I hear howling noises and low growls. I let go of her hand and put my hand to my chest. Breath. I open my eyes and start walking, not waiting for Hopper.

Inside, most of the lights flicker as we walk down a dark hallway. Hoppers flashlight on his gun leads the way. We head down a stair well and i see blood on the railing.
"Stay here." Hop says. We follow his order and freeze.
"Oh shit." He whispers as he gets to the bottom. I peer down from the top and see a man sitting in the corner with a cut open leg.
"Hey, Doc." He sighs. "Those suckers got you pretty good, huh?"
The doctor gestures, but hopper stops him. "Don't talk. Its okay. I got you i got you." He unlatches his belt and firmly puts it around the mans leg. Jane and I head down the stairs and he stares at the two of us.
"Oh, yeah, I've been meaning to tell you. This is Eleven. Eleven, Doc Owens. Doc Owens, Eleven. She's been staying with me for about a year. This is- er her sister that she found too. Y/n, Doc. Doc, y/n. And they are about to save our asses." He looks Doctor Owens in the eyes.
"Maybe when this is all said and done, maybe you could help them out, too. You know? Maybe you could help them lead, like, a normal life. One where they aren't poked and prodded and... treated like some kind of lab rats, you know?" He silently chuckles to himself. "I don't know, just a thought."
He then tightens the belt and Owens stirs and grunts.
"But, uh... think about it." Hopper says with a smile. We follow him down the steps once more. I like that guy. Even though i know nothing about him, he just seems to understand me and all the shit I've been through...
