[OPENED] Asher's 1st Birthday

Dear Asher,

You're 1 now. How time flies. Before I get into anything, I just want to tell you a little back story. Before you were born, Mummy and Daddy has another baby- a little girl. Sadly she didn't make it and is in heaven waiting for us all.

So when we found out we were having you, we were a little scared things could go wrong. Some things didn't go to plan and Mummy got sick but I made sure to get you out all big and strong. And when you were born, Mummy and Daddy were really happy. You were healthy and that's all we could have asked for.

Your dad is a little bit more religious than I am, which I hope he brings to you because believing in God can be a wonderful thing.

You know what Asher means? It basically means happy. And how nice is that? You brought joy into our world, you made us happy even before you came out into this world.

And that's why we named you Asher.

Now, you'll probably forget me- or have forgotten me already. I know your Daddy is going to be crying when he reads this because he's a big old cry baby sometimes.

I'm so sorry Asher. Mummy is so sorry she isn't there with you. I wish I could just hold you in my arms again and just kiss your tiny little button nose. I miss waking up to see you in your cot, just gurgling nonsense at the ceiling.

I didn't get to see you crawl or walk or even talk. I am so sorry. Nothing hurts me more than to not be there with you. But Mummy has to go away for a while. But I'll be up in the sky watching over you okay?

Just know that I love you so much Asher, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you're being a good boy for daddy and not keeping him up with all that crying.
