Chapter Two
Harry’s POV
"Harry?!" Sam asked through the phone, sounding a bit surprised that I had bothered to call her.
"Yea, hey Sam! Long time no talk, right?" I chucked in reply, sitting on my bed and staring out my window.
"Well I'd say! Wow, it's so nice to hear from you, Ann gave you the message, I suppose?"
"That she did, how is everything?" I asked her, genuinely curious.
"Pretty good, finishing up some studies, actually! How about you?"
I thought for a moment. How WAS everything with me? Well, the lads and I were staying at mum's house for a few weeks, which was pretty fun. Aside from the fact, of course, that Louis hadn't uttered a word to me since dinner the week before. Not that he had been around the house much, anyway. Eleanor was staying in a hotel nearby and Louis spent most of his days (and nights) with her. The only time that I could catch a glimps of him for more than a few seconds was on the TV, where him and Eleanor were taped walking around the city together. How cute. That bloody bastard.
"Everything's great," I lied, "Listen, I was thinking we could get together for some tea this afternoon, would you like that?" I asked her, hoping that I could get out of the house for a few hours and enjoy myself.
"That sounds nice, Harry, how about the Blue Star in a half hour?" she offered.
I happily accepted her suggestion before we ended the call. I placed my phone on my bed and left my room, heading down the hallway to the kitchen. I noticed a strange, familiar figure sitting at the breakfast counter gulping down a bowl of cereal. He wore a dark striped shirt with khakis and braces. Louis.
What was he doing back at the house? It was weird that Eleanor wasn't with him, not that It bothered me the least bit. It was kind of refreshing to see that Louis had returned by himself for at least a little while. No matter how angry I was at him, there was no doubt that I missed his presence. Without Louis around, the house might as well have been empty.
I trudged over to the cupboards pretending not to notice him. I could feel his eyes on the back of my head, burning little holes straight through me. I reached up and got myself out a bowl and poured some Cheerio’s into it along with some milk, then sat two stools over from Louis on the counter. I picked up the newspaper and began reading it, trying to appear completely engaged in what it had to say, though I was simply skimming the front page and nothing had come even close to my interest.
"Gooood morning!" my mother sang, coming down the hall. I mentally groaned.
"Hello, Ann," Louis said, playing a cool smile.
