Chapter Eight

Louis’ POV

 Three years earlier

"Okay, boys, get together! I'm taking a few more!" My mum ordered to Stan and I.

"I can't believe you two are going to your prom! It feels just like yesterday that I was picking you boys up from kindergarten and dropping you off to play at the park," my mum put a hand to her mouth, desperately trying to hide the fact that she was about to start bawling. I rolled my eyes and nudged Stan with my elbow, making him laugh.

Stan Lucas, my all time best friend, and I stood next to each other in front of the fireplace in my living room, all dressed up in our suits and looking very fine. Our arms were around each other in a comfortable side hug, and we were smiling at mum, who now had the camera up to her face.

"On three!" She called, before counting to three.

"Ohhh, you boys look perfect!" she squealed, trotting forward and pinching our cheeks, then pulling us into a hug. Stan laughed at her, but hugged her back anyway.

"Okay, mum, we have to go pick up the girls..." I mumbled into her hair, placing a kiss on her head before pulling away and grabbing onto Stan's arm, dragging him with me.

"Well... Have a good time boys! I expect to see heaps of pictures when you get home!" she smiled, handing me her camera and patting my hand as I reached to take it from her.

Turning around, I put my arm around Stan's shoulders and we left out the front door. We hopped into my mum's car and I popped in a CD, turning the volume up all the way.

"You think she'll find out?" Stan spoke up, over the loud music. I looked to face him, and his expression was frantic. I turned down the music a little so we could hear each other.

"No, I'll tell her the batteries died in the camera... And that we went back to Steph's for a bit," I assured him.

"I don't know... What if she calls Hannah's dad and finds out that she's in Dominican with her mum?" He worried. I had asked Hannah to prom before she told me she would be on holiday on the night of the dance. I had a crush on her for months, but I wasn't too bummed out because I knew Stan and I could find other plans.

"Stan. You need to calm down. Live a little!" I nudged him from the drivers seat, hearing him mumble a whatever to himself and sitting the rest of the drive with his head on his fist in silence.
