Hey, guys! I know I said I'd get this chapter out quicker and I'm really sorry that I didn't! My life just seems non-stop right now and I can't seem to find the time to sit and write, but I'll find away around it :)

I was pleased to find that the tension between my family, Ronnie and I didn’t last all night. Upon entering the venue, we’d all been met with the realisation that a lot of people had already arrived before us, so it hadn’t been easy for me to drag Ronnie off to the other side of the room to avoid any more conflict. An obvious awkwardness had existed between us at first, and it felt horrible to be standing next to Ronnie whilst the rest of the family stood opposite me, almost as if I had taken his side. Before long, my dad and Zacky had wandered off to buy everybody drinks, and the others quickly engaged in conversation that I didn’t even bother to involve myself in.

Thankfully, the atmosphere between us seemed to change when Ash, Adam and Dylan wandered onto the stage. It drew the attention away from Ronnie and I just as I’d hoped it would, and everybody seemed to ease up the minute the music started. I wasn’t completely comfortable with Ronnie next to me, constantly leaning down and making comments in my ear, and I felt relieved when my dad tugged on my arm and pulled me to stand in between him and Zacky. For the rest of the gig, I stayed closely next to him, trying to ignore the way mine and Zacky’s arms were constantly touching.

Once the band had finished their set, people began piling through the exit, making it the tiniest bit easier to breathe through the heat of the crowded room. We all stayed stood in the same area, waiting for Ash, Adam and Dylan to make their way out to us. As soon as Ash and Adam emerged from a back area, grins spread across everyone’s faces, and it was hard to get a word in edgeways whilst the guys were so excitedly praising them.

I was just about to make my way over to the two of them to hug them and praise them myself, but from behind me, a tap came to my shoulder. I turned to be faced with Dylan, a grin immediately pulling at my lips, and he wasted no time in leaning down and pulling me into a hug. Squeezing him tightly, I pulled away to grin at him again, and it was as I did so that he leaned in and placed a gentle peck on my cheek.

The gesture obviously seemed completely innocent, but I couldn’t help feeling like I was being closely watched. I smiled a little awkwardly, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jacket and trying to act as casually as possible.

“You all did great up there.” I said, widening my grin as I stared up at Dylan, “I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t that. You guys are amazing.”

Almost as if my words were the best thing he’d heard in a long time, Dylan’s eyes lit up, and his own grin widened. “Thanks, Midge.” He said, leaning down and grabbing my hand. He gently squeezed it, studying my face, “It meant a lot that you came tonight.”

I wanted more than anything to stand there and give Dylan and the others the praise they all deserved. I knew how important the gig was to all of them, and I really had enjoyed myself, but I felt that the way Dylan was acting towards me was making it a little awkward. Squeezing my hand again, I thought for a moment that he was about to pull away, but he simply laced our fingers together and continued to stare down at me. In my peripheral vision, I was positive, now, that I was definitely being watched.

“You’re welcome.” I replied to him as casually as possible, attempting to stop my smile from faltering. I eased my hand out of his grasp, quickly fanning my face and clearing my throat, “It’s really hot in here. I think I’m gonna step outside for some fresh air. I’ll be right back.”
