No way near as tense as what's to come, though.

"Stop fucking crying."

In the mirror, my face contorted painfully at the harsh words I'd whispered to myself. I cupped my hands beneath the running tap, allowed a puddle to fill inside my palms that I quickly splashed onto my face. The handle to one of the many bathrooms in Jimmy and Leana's house - that I had occupied, now, for a good ten minutes - was yanked down by yet another frustrated person desperate to come in. I sighed to myself, annoyed, took a swig from the hipflask in my pocket and unlocked the door.

"It's all yours," I murmured bluntly to the stranger waiting by the door. They were either too drunk or too rude to respond - not that I'd been particularly polite to them myself. I began to barge through the crowds of people loitering around in groups, attempting to make my way back to the living room I had come from. Every little thing seemed to be irritating me.

I couldn't be further from a partying mood if I tried. The music was too loud for my pounding head, the house too crowded for my exhausted, hypersensitive self. My fit of sobs in the bathroom two minutes before hadn't been the first one the night - the slightest thing, right now, seemed to be setting me off. The masquerade mask covering my eyes thankfully came in handy, shielded the redness and the puffiness.

Surprisingly, the living room was a little calmer than the hallways. Most people were spilling out into the huge garden or lingering in the kitchen and dining room. The atmosphere in the living room was slightly more relaxed; it was still too loud for me, with the majority of the Avenged wives and some of the guys socialising at the other end of the room, and the people dancing nearby, but I managed to block it out as I returned to the chair in the corner that I had made my home for the evening. I had a perfect view of the front door for whenever Fraser would so arrogantly show up. Part of me wished he would think better of it and leave me alone - I knew, deep down, there was no chance of that happening.

"I have been looking everywhere for you!" Ash seemed to materialise out of nowhere, suddenly stood casually in front of me like she'd be there the whole time. "Where were you?"

"I was just in the bathroom," I responded.

"Are you okay? You sound like you've been cryi-''

"Damn," Charlotte was the next to suddenly appear, Linds in tow. She nodded in the direction of the far left corner of the room. "Get a load of that."

All of our gazes shot to the area in question, just in time to see Gena lean in and whisper something into Zacky's ear. Beside each other, the two of them both erupted into a fit of loud laughter. I knew it was probably entirely innocent, but I felt my body tense immediately, felt my tears threatening to step out on show again.

"I didn't think I'd see that ever again," Linds commented with raised eyebrows. "It's like we've gone back in time."

"Uhuh," Charlotte nodded, emitting a chuckle. "I'll bet anything they'll be back together before you know it."
