that part with uncles

Beacon Hills Long Term Care Center.Sommer stood outside the building that's housed her only other living relative for the last 6 years.
Her catatonic uncle that saved her life the day of the fire.
The then-thirteen year old was sitting on the couch with a flu-ridden Cora watching spongebob when she smelled it.
But by the time Peter had gotten to the two, it was too late..
Talia Hale was already engulfed in the toxic smoke from inside the kitchen while he pulled the middle child out of the house by the hood of her sweatshirt.
She begged him to pull Cora, but by the time he'd entered the house again, his body caught on to the flames surrounding them.
Sommer could see the house erupt from her spot on the ground that had uncle had left her in.
She could hear the screams of her grandmother and aunt. She could smell the scent of burning flesh.
The flesh of her family.
"How can I help you, dear?"
The teen was snapped from her nightmare by the sound of the shrill nurse's voice.
Sommer met the gaze of the dirty blonde woman waiting behind the desk for her answer, her name tag reading Jeniffer.
"Uh, I'm here to see Peter Hale." Sommer's strong voice pierced through the air, her eyes set on the woman as she saw her brow raise in surprise.
"Are you related? I'll need a name."
Sommer swallowed thickly, "Sommer Hale. I'm his niece."
She noticed the speed of Jennifer's heart as the woman nodded. "Okay dear. Why don't you follow me."
As Sommer walked through the halls, she could smell the sadness clearly; the scent mixing with that of death.
It was enough to make her skin crawl.
"Room 4b." Jennifer began, eyeing the girl. "I'll warn you, he's not pres-"
"I know." Sommer snapped before pushing the door open; burnt flesh instantly assaulting her nose.
She pushed through it though, talking a deep breath before her eyes landed on a still man sitting in a wheelchair, staring blankly out the window he faced.
Sommer could feel her hands shake lightly.
It'd been almost two years since she last saw him, and he was still in the same position..
Sommer cleared her throat before shuffling closer to him, taking a seat on the window sill in front of him.
She noticed his blue eyes move slightly; a glimmer of hope filling her as she began speaking.
"H-Hey uncle Peter.. It uh- it's been a while..."
She noticed his hair had grown a bit more since the last time she'd seen him. It was pushed back and naturally curled up at the ends.
She looked at his hands that sat in his lap, "I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately."
She then frowned, her words hitting her before she scoffed to herself.
"Or at all the last two years.." she then sighed. "Derek and I are back. I think we're gonna be here for good, even though he hasn't said anything about it... I can just tell."
Peter's eyes were back on the window behind her as she continued.
"S-Somebody killed Laura.. I- I don't know who, b-but I'm almost positive they weren't hunters."
She swore she noticed one of Peter's hands twitch, but her mind screamed angrily at her.
You're just imagining it Sommer! It's impossible! He's comatose.
Sommer shook her head, "In other news; someone bit a 16 year old boy who has no business being a werewolf. He's gonna end up getting himself killed, and it'll be on us."
Peter's eyes slightly moved toward her. "Plus, he has a best friend who is just as clueless.. Derek and I are gonna have our hands full with this shit.. That's for sure."
Her blue eyes drifted over the clock on the wall and she sighed. "I should get going.. Derek'll wonder where I'm at." She then stood, hands in her pockets. "I'm most likely on pup duty."
As she leaned down to kiss her uncle's scarred cheek, she smelled something different about him, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
Peter sensed her reluctance and he knew it wasn't because of his burnt body...
His little Sommer was always a smart one.
She had gifts that no other in their family had. But, as she shook the thoughts from her mind, she kissed his cheek and smiled a forced smile.
"I'll see you soon, Peter.. I love you."
